The home for the audio format of the literary content found on www.strutmarks.com About Strut Marks: Raised in the pine plantations and river swamps of east central Mississippi, I was taught at an early age how to hunt, fish, and sustainably manage resources to allow for the continued enjoyment of all of God’s creation. I learned to not only enjoy, but to respect and love the game that I pursue in the field. I was raised in a culture of rich hunting heritage and the blood from multiple generations of dedicated turkey hunters courses through my veins. I harvested my first adult gobbler at the age of five which proved to be an experience that would, ultimately, go on to change the entire trajectory of my life. The pursuit of the wild turkey is something that I became passionate about at a very early age and is something that I remain most passionate about to this day. Looking back over a quarter of a century later, at the places visited across the United States, the friendships born and fortified, and the life lessons learned afield that the sport of turkey hunting has afforded me is incredible yet humbling to ponder. Years ago, I began putting some of these on paper to bring some of these experiences to life for others to enjoy. Strut Marks is a home for some of those. Stories from the field, mainly about turkeys and turkey hunting likely with some sprinklings of waterfowl hunting and retrievers, which are also near and dear to my heart. Unto Our Children's Children

Turkey hunting has taken me many places that I likely never would have visited, afforded me relationships I, otherwise, never would have had, and has absolutely changed the trajectory of my life, for better or worse. I owe every last second of these treasured experiences, first and foremost, to my Lord and Savior. He saw fit to provide me with a father who prioritized taking me to the woods with him. My dad was solely responsible for sparking the fire that burns so intensely inside of me when I was a very young boy, just as his dad had done with him when he was yet a child. The following is a detailed recount of the spring morning that this fire was ignited inside of me. A story that is truly one of the most dear to me, written shortly after the hunt took place by the man himself. I hope you enjoy! Thank you for listening!
