Surf Report Tampa Florida
Good morning! Here's your Monday surf and beach forecast for West Central and Southwest Florida, brought to you by the National Weather Service. If you're heading to the beach today, grab your sunscreen and keep it close because we're looking at an extreme UV index across the board. We're talking the kind of sunshine that doesn't mess around. Let's talk conditions. Whether you're planning to hit Clearwater Beach, Siesta Key, Sanibel, or any of the beaches stretching from Cedar Key down to Fort Myers, you're looking at mostly calm waters. Surf heights are running one foot or less across all zones, which means it's going to be glassy and mellow out there. The rip current risk stays low, though as always, keep an eye out near jetties and piers where conditions can be a bit more tricky. We're not expecting any thunderstorms today in most areas. However, if you're down toward the Charlotte and Lee County beaches, there's a slight chance of some shower and thunderstorm activity developing tonight, so keep one eye on the sky as the sun sets. Temperature wise, expect highs in the upper eighties in the northern zones around Crystal River and Hudson, while those of you further south near Fort Myers and Sanibel will see highs climbing into the lower nineties. Water temperatures are pleasant, ranging from around eighty degrees in the Levy County area up to the mid-eighties down in Lee County. The wind picture is pretty straightforward today. Southeast winds early in the morning will shift to westerly or southwesterly directions by afternoon, staying light at around five miles per hour. Tonight looks mostly cloudy with lows in the upper seventies. Winds will be a bit breezier, with north to northwest winds around ten miles per hour early on, then turning easterly after midnight. Looking ahead to Tuesday, we're expecting more of the same pleasant pattern. Partly sunny skies, highs in the upper eighties to low nineties depending on your location, and that same light wind pattern. Rip current risk remains low and thunderstorm potential stays minimal. So there you have it. A beautiful start to the week with calm seas, sunshine, and warm temperatures. Just remember that sunscreen and enjoy the water!
