Christopher J. Tignanelli, MD, MS, MBA is a tenured Associate Professor of Surgery in the Division of Critical Care & Acute Care Surgery at the University of Minnesota Medical School, where he also serves as Associate Dean for Data Science. He is triple board-certified in General Surgery, Surgical Critical Care, and Clinical Informatics, and provides care for trauma, emergency general surgery, surgical critical care, and ECMO patients. He also holds 5 EPIC EHR certifications. Dr. Tignanelli is a nationally recognized clinician-scientist whose work focuses on clinical informatics, artificial intelligence, machine learning–enabled decision support, and learning health systems to improve outcomes and reduce unwarranted variation in care. He has authored over 150 peer-reviewed publications and has received more than $30 million in direct research funding from NIH, AHRQ, the Gates Foundation, the Henry Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine and other federal and foundation sources. His research emphasizes the development, implementation, and real-world scaling of interoperable, evidence-based digital health tools across complex health systems. Fernando Collado-Mesa, MD, FSBI, received his medical degree from the University of Medical Sciences of Havana, Cuba, and completed a residency in Medical Epidemiology at the National School of Public Health, Havana, Cuba. He is former Public Health Research Fellow, Pan American Health Organization, and former Academic Visitor, Department of Epidemiology and Public Health, University College London, England. After migrating to the United States, he successfully met all requirements, including ECFMG certification and USMLE steps, and successfully applied for and completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. He completed a breast imaging radiology fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center, Miami Beach, Florida. Dr. Collado-Mesa joined the Department of Radiology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in July 2010. In 2023 he was promoted to the academic rank of Professor of Clinical Radiology. In recognition of his level of expertise and dedication to the field of breast imaging radiology, Dr. Collado-Mesa was inducted as a fellow of the Society of Breast Imaging. Dr. Collado-Mesa has participated, presented, and lectured at numerous local, national, and international meetings and is the author of multiple scientific publications. He is passionate about patient care, medical education, and research. He is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of hypertension, diabetes, congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation, coronary artery disease, stroke, and other chronic medical conditions. He is interested in the primary prevention of disease with a passion for medical education and bedside teaching. He has received numerous awards from medical students and residents during his 25 year career as a core faculty member of an internal medicine residency program. Dr. Speisman has mentored many physicians to take on leadership roles in academic internal medicine. Mel is a lifetime member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society signifying his lifelong commitment to outstanding patient care, professionalism, leadership, scholarship, research, teaching, and community service. In 2024, Mel completed certification programs in Artificial Intelligence and Healthcare at both Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts Institute of Technology as well as a certification in Artificial Intelligence from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management. Mel is currently enrolled in the Stanford Artificial Intelligence in Health care Certificate Program with the goal of becoming a world leader at the intersection of AI and Medicine. Mel is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) and a Fellow of Artificial Intelligence and Medicine (FAIM). In August 2024, he transitioned from being an Assistant Professor in the Division of Academic Internal Medicine at the University Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine to taking a position as President of the American College of Artificial Intelligence and Medicine.
