But four months later, the US has signed an interim peace deal extending the ceasefire between the two countries. That deal has drawn criticism from Donald Trump's Republican Party and Reza Pahlavi - the son of the last Shah who the ayatollahs deposed in order to take power, forcing him into exile for the last 46 years.
