Descripción

The Capicu Show is redefining the culture of community. This week , George Torres will be talking to... Evelyn Alvarez - Prom King Evelyn was inspired to create a non-profit organization by the name of Prom King, due to the lack of attention to the needs of young males in the boroughs of New York. Prom King collects new and gently used clothing to outfit young men with dress attire for a variety of occasions including their prom, important engagements and other special occasions. Juan PapoSwiggity Santiago - Capicu School of Poetic Arts Papo, along with his co-founding committee, Jani Rose & Kieth Roach wanted to empower all of the artists across the city by offering workshops that were the level of a BFA or MFA Creative Writing workshop, but for a fraction of the cost to be accessible to the whole community.  In early 2014, La SoPA or School of Poetics was incubated at the Bushwick campus of Boricua College. Our discussion will revolve around they built community around their ideas and gained enough momentum to make a difference in their community and eventually winning a Positive Impact Award.
