🚨Coach Neil Russo🚨 Coach Neil Russo has been the driving force behind Newberg High School Wrestling for over 25 years, continuing a proud family legacy that dates back to 1968.  As part of the multigenerational Russo coaching dynasty—alongside his father Pete (who won a state title in 1970) and uncle Tony (who secured 7 state championships) Coach Neil Russo has helped build the Tigers into one of Oregon’s most dominant programs. The family’s combined 58 years of leadership were recently honored with the dedication of the Russo Family Wrestling Room at Newberg High.  Under Coach Russo’s guidance, Newberg has captured multiple 6A state team titles (3 peat in 2026) and, produced dozens of individual state champions, and earned Coach Russo honors like Oregon State Coach of the Year and NFHS National Wrestling Coach of the Year.  A Newberg alum and lifelong Tiger, Coach Russo continues to uphold a tradition of excellence, toughness, and family values on the mat. A former standout quarterback and defensive back at Churchill High School in Eugene, he played college football at Linfield University before beginning his coaching career. Coach Ad Rutschman - The Winning Formula: People, Preparation, Performance

Coach Ad Rutschman: The Unrivaled Dual-Sport Titan. A coaching colossus who etched his name into immortality as the only college coach in history to win national championships in both football and baseball. At Hillsboro High, he won three state baseball titles and one state football championship. Then at Linfield University, the success continued—claiming the 1971 NAIA Baseball National Title and three NAIA Football National Championships (1982, 1984, 1986). 24 seasons as head football coach. Zero losing seasons. A .787 winning percentage. 4x Hall of Famer. Architect of champions. Coach Rutschman isn’t just a coach; he’s a blueprint for greatness and success.  A true Oregon legend who dominated two sports like no one else ever has. Coach AJ Cooper - SDSU DEF QC / Corners: Football is the Greatest Metaphor For Life

Coach AJ Cooper is a Defensive QC and Corners Coach for San Diego State Aztecs, he joined the staff in spring 2026 under head coach Sean Lewis. A North Las Vegas native, Coach Coop was a standout defensive back at Southern Oregon University, where he was a multi-year starter, two-time NAIA national champion, and racked up 198 tackles and nine interceptions. After earning his business degree from Southern Oregon and a master’s in athletic administration from Central Washington, he quickly climbed the coaching ranks: He started off as a GA and Corners Coach at CWU (2019-20), Oregon State Def GA (2021-22), linebackers coach at Sacramento State in 2023, then secondary and inside linebackers coach at Oregon State from (2024–25), where he earned AFCA 35 Under 35 honors. His new role at SDSU is full circle moment; his father, Hunkie Cooper, was SDSU’s WR Coach from (2015-22). I had the opportunity to work with Coach Coop at OSU and learned a lot from his approach and process. Players of all positions naturally gravitated towards him, and he had a knack to motivate, inspire, and teach.
