Joanna Fajardo: I was in a high-control religious group

She had a realization that she was in what she calls a "high-control group", often referred to as ... a cult. She exited years ago, and that came with major life-altering changes she openly explains in detail. To leave meant to lose touch with her whole family, but it also meant being true to herself. She was finally able to embrace her queerness -- her favorite thing about herself.
