The Peer Protests Podcast
Myanmar's military staged a coup d'état on February 1st 2021. Officially, they argued that the elections that were held in November 2020 were fraudulent and that the Burmese government was not legitimate, accusations which international observers were not able to confirm. Since then, thousands of Burmese people took on the streets to protest against the military government. Many of these protests were met with utmost violence. In this episode, we will talk to three students: Calvin, Alice and Michael, who share their perspectives on the protests and the coup. We would like to thank our interviewees, as well as everyone that helped us throughout the process; particularly, Oetsen van der Veen, Amanda Brouwers, Saliha Metinsoy, and Stijn van Nuland.
