The Polymath Podcast
In Luke 14:28 Jesus asked the crowd of people who were following him a very important question: " For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?" In asking this question Jesus was referring to the price one will have to pay to follow Him. It was Matthew 16:24 that says " Then Jesus said unto His disciples, if any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me." To follow Jesus, there is a cost and a price to pay. Though it may not be a monetary price, there is a mental and spiritual reshaping that will take place through a self- mortifying process. Noone can serve the Lord when they are full of themselves and their own ways. Something(s) will have to die for you to serve Christ well. This is why it is important to count the cost before making a decision. And while serving Christ is the BEST decision one could ever make, the Lord still requires for us to count the cost to see if it is a price we're willing to pay.
