God Wastes Nothing, with Matt Garner

If all you did was look at Matt Garner’s résumé, you might think he had life all figured out—a decade in executive leadership at AT&T, a successful consulting firm, multiple entrepreneurial business ventures. Yet he says he was still living in “grayness” because the things that should’ve felt fulfilling didn’t, and he felt disconnected from those with whom he should’ve been closest. But thanks to his wife reintroducing him to faith and providing a living example of God’s grace, Matt and his family are living for the Lord and thriving—and Matt has recently joined The Redeemed as our new director of groups and leader development. Staying Grounded While a Music Career Takes Off with Cade Thompson

When people find out that Cade Thompson signed a Nashville record contract at the age of just 18, they sometimes assume he’s led a charmed life. But as many blessings as Cade has received over the course of his still-young music career, there have been setbacks and frustrations too. Fortunately, through prayer and the guidance of caring mentors, he’s been able to learn valuable lessons from those challenges about faith, love, and staying grounded. Mark Fuller has been forced to question his identity at two major junctures in his life—first when he was released from the Colorado Rockies in 1996, and again when he was fired as Auburn’s pitching coach and recruiting director in 2004. When God Disrupts Your Comfort with Brenen Beeler

As the pastor of a church in California, Brenen Beeler was safe, secure, and respected—but he wasn’t truly content. When he was presented with a new opportunity at Cavalry Chapel Eagle in Idaho, it took a great deal of prayer—and numerous signs from God—to convince him it was worth taking a chance on a new church in an entirely different part of the country. But God soon started paving the way for Brenen and his family, and now, as the pastor of a thriving church in a rapidly growing community, Brenen testifies that it was “the best decision we ever made in our lives.” Brenen recounts that story to Nate Dewberry this week and relates some of the messages he’s sharing with men in his congregation searching for meaning: listen to your feelings of “Godly discontentment”; be humble enough to recognize that all our strength comes from God alone; and make sure you have an “armor bearer” who has your back and can recognize your potential weaknesses—and be that armor bearer for others.
