God Wastes Nothing, with Matt Garner

If all you did was look at Matt Garner’s résumé, you might think he had life all figured out—a decade in executive leadership at AT&T, a successful consulting firm, multiple entrepreneurial business ventures. Yet he says he was still living in “grayness” because the things that should’ve felt fulfilling didn’t, and he felt disconnected from those with whom he should’ve been closest. But thanks to his wife reintroducing him to faith and providing a living example of God’s grace, Matt and his family are living for the Lord and thriving—and Matt has recently joined The Redeemed as our new director of groups and leader development. Matt tells his story of redemption in part one of his conversation with ministry founder Paul Amos. episode Be Willing to Be Broken with Mark Fuller artwork

Be Willing to Be Broken with Mark Fuller

Mark Fuller has been forced to question his identity at two major junctures in his life—first when he was released from the Colorado Rockies in 1996, and again when he was fired as Auburn’s pitching coach and recruiting director in 2004. When he stopped putting his identity in baseball and started putting it in discipleship of the Lord, though, life became a lot more clear. Now a life coach and published author, Mark talks with Nate Dewberry this week about mature manhood, owning one’s mistakes, and why the ability to admit one’s brokenness is so vital to effective leadership and success in life. Finding Friends and Faith in Unlikely Places with Wayne Francis

Having grown up during hip-hop’s birth and early years in the Bronx, Wayne Francis is an unabashed fan of, and advocate for, all things New York. But the lessons he’s learned about faith and friendships will resonate with men in big cities and small towns alike, regardless of their race or background. Wayne shares some of those lessons with Nate Dewberry this week, including the different “depths” of male friendships and why it’s good to have a variety of all of them in your life; the blessings that come from hard work and an entrepreneurial spirit; and the importance of having relationships with non-believers—as well as a plan for getting those relationships started without pressure or pretense. episode When God Disrupts Your Comfort with Brenen Beeler artwork

When God Disrupts Your Comfort with Brenen Beeler

As the pastor of a church in California, Brenen Beeler was safe, secure, and respected—but he wasn’t truly content. When he was presented with a new opportunity at Cavalry Chapel Eagle in Idaho, it took a great deal of prayer—and numerous signs from God—to convince him it was worth taking a chance on a new church in an entirely different part of the country. But God soon started paving the way for Brenen and his family, and now, as the pastor of a thriving church in a rapidly growing community, Brenen testifies that it was “the best decision we ever made in our lives.” Brenen recounts that story to Nate Dewberry this week and relates some of the messages he’s sharing with men in his congregation searching for meaning: listen to your feelings of “Godly discontentment”; be humble enough to recognize that all our strength comes from God alone; and make sure you have an “armor bearer” who has your back and can recognize your potential weaknesses—and be that armor bearer for others. Segments/chapters 0:00 Intro/The beginnings of a major life change 7:20 Wrestling with God’s plan 15:25 God makes everything fall into place 22:32 “The best decision we ever made in our lives” 25:55 When you’re safe and secure, but not content 33:54 How Brenen’s church is reaching out to men in search of meaning 40:04 Locking arms as “armor bearers” and facing challenges together 48:48 Closing thoughts: What matters the most in Brenen’s life Find community, deepen your faith, join the brotherhood for free today at theredeemed.com/join [http://www.theredeemed.com/join].
