Psalm 112 - The Character of the Son of Man
Featured Teacher: Daniel Christensen Psalm 112 is the third movement in a trilogy that began with Psalm 110's mysterious "Lord" and "my Lord." Who is David's Adonai, the Son of Man? This week we trace 13 perfections of Christ hidden in an ancient Hebrew acrostic — from his eternal righteousness and fearless trust to his ultimate glorification. Along the way: why "blessed is the man" points to Jesus 23 times in the Psalter, how Christ's wealth becomes ours through union with him, and what it means to build your life on rock instead of sand. #ReformedTheology #ExpositoryPreaching #BibleTeaching #Psalms #Christotelic
Psalm 111 - The Character of the Ancient of Days
Featured Teacher: Daniel Christensen What is God actually like? In this study of Psalm 111, Pastor Daniel Christensen walks through all 13 divine perfections packed into this acrostic psalm — God's greatness, glory, righteousness, compassion, and covenant faithfulness. Along the way: why the Psalter uses acrostics as memory devices, why chattel slavery proves objective morality requires God, and why true wisdom only comes from fearing the Lord. A rich, exegetical look at the doctrine of God from one of Scripture's most theologically dense hymns of praise. #ReformedTheology #ExpositoryPreaching #BibleTeaching #Psalms #SystematicTheology #Christotelic
Galatians 2:15-16 - The Truth of the Gospel
Featured Teacher: Dr. Scott Julian On this special celebration Sunday, Pastor Scott opens Galatians 2:15-16 to show why churches endure: not through perfect leaders or flawless strategies, but through the unshakeable truth of the gospel. Tracing Paul's confrontation with Peter in Antioch, this sermon exposes the deadly presumption of self-righteousness and calls believers back to justification by faith alone in Christ alone. A powerful message reflecting on West Hills Church's past, present, and future—all anchored in the finished work of Christ. #ReformedTheology #ExpositoryPreaching #Galatians #Justification #Gospel #BibleTeaching #SolaFide #ChurchHistory #WestHillsChurch
Psalm 110 - David's Son and David's Lord - Part 4
In the climactic fourth and final study in Psalm 110, we witness the conquest of David's Adonai — Jesus Christ — over four enemies: kings, nations, Satan, and death itself. Tracing threads from Genesis 3:15's first gospel promise through Balaam's oracle, Psalm 2, and Paul's letters, we discover that Christ's reign advances through both crushing judgment and gracious conversion. Along the way we uncover the true meaning of "be still and know that I am God," the Hebrew wordplay behind the serpent's crushed head, and why Christ's cup of suffering leads to His exaltation. Christ the King remains undefeated.
Psalm 110 - David's Son and David's Lord - Part 3
In this third installment on Psalm 110, we examine the royal army (v. 3) that accompanies David's Adonai—identified as the church itself: willing, holy, born again, and innumerable. We then turn to the priestly session (v. 4), unpacking the solemn oath God swears to His Son, the eternal covenant of redemption (pactum salutis), and the doctrine of divine immutability. Finally, we trace the mysterious priest-king Melchizedek from Genesis 14 to Christ, showing how His eternal priesthood surpasses the Levitical order—securing believers in the unshakable, unchanging promises of God.
