ARGHHHH yer matey. Come walk the plank with me as we talk about the Pirates that influenced and tourtered the Carolina Shores. Well be talking about Blackbeard, Sted Bonnet, Anne Bonny, and Mary Reed. Well talk about how these 4 buccaneers either made Charleston home or visited Charleston shores. At one point Bonnet and Blackbeard joined together to take over Charlestons harbour to get drugs, and then dive into how Bonnet made White Point Garden his final resting spot against his wills. Well also talk about Anne Bonny and how she was never seen again after her trial and got out of being hung and may have possibly made her finally home at the Pink House. episode Mazyckborough and Mazyck Lands artwork

Mazyckborough and Mazyck Lands

Joseph Purcell laid out Mazyckborough for Alexander Mazyck in 1786. it was bounded by Chapel, Elizabeth and Calhoun streets and the Cooper River. Beginning in 1766 Christopher Gadsen and the Mechanicks party who called themselves the 'Sons of Liberty' met under the live oak tree many times to oppose the policies of Great Britain toward the colonies. The British cut down the oak tree to prevent it becoming a Patriot Shrine.  Mazyck Lands this area bounded generally by the present day streets of Broad, Legare, Queen, Archdale, Beaufain and Smith, was granted to James Moore in 1698 and conveyed by the trustees of his will to Isaac Mazyck in 1712. In 1742 the Mazyck Lands were partitioned amoung the heirs of Isaac Mazyck and lots were surveyed and offered for sale.    Come Join the Facebook page at Whispers of Charleston : https: [https://www.facebook.com/share/1Kwy2wNjtH/]//www.facebook.com/share/1Kwy2wNjtH/ [https://www.facebook.com/share/1Kwy2wNjtH/]  Follow the Instagram page : https://www.instagram.com/whispers_of_charleston?utm_source=qr&igsh=MXY2dnNma3NycHF0ZQ== [https://www.instagram.com/whispers_of_charleston?utm_source=qr&igsh=MXY2dnNma3NycHF0ZQ==]  Come Join the Facebook Group : https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1HTUeeqqK4/ [https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1HTUeeqqK4/]  Subscribe, Like, and Share the videos: www.youtube.com/@WhispersofCharleston [http://www.youtube.com/@WhispersofCharleston]  Join the Patreon Family : https://patreon.com/CharlestonWhispers?utm_medium=unknown&utm_source=join_link&utm_campaign=creatorshare_creator&utm_content=copyLink [https://patreon.com/CharlestonWhispers?utm_medium=unknown&utm_source=join_link&utm_campaign=creatorshare_creator&utm_content=copyLink]

episode The village of Harleston artwork

The village of Harleston

The Village of Harleston also frequently called Harlestons Green, more rarely Harlestonborough, and more recently Harleston Village, was originally part of a grant made to John Coming and Henry Hughes in 1671. After the death of Coming and his Wife Mrs. Affra Coming, it was inherited by Mrs. Comings Nephew, John Harleston. Streets in the village of Harleston were names for prominent men of the period, in England and the Province. The Royal Governor, LOrd Charles Greville Montagu, along with Lt. Gov. William Bull; Hector Beranger de Beaufain, Collector of Customs and member of Parliament who defended Colonial rights, as well as John Rutledge, Thomas Lynch and Christopher Gadsden who were active in the Provincial Government and later leaders in the American revolution all were commemorated.      Come Join the Facebook page at Whispers of Charleston : https: [https://www.facebook.com/share/1Kwy2wNjtH/]//www.facebook.com/share/1Kwy2wNjtH/ [https://www.facebook.com/share/1Kwy2wNjtH/]  Follow the Instagram page : https://www.instagram.com/whispers_of_charleston?utm_source=qr&igsh=MXY2dnNma3NycHF0ZQ== [https://www.instagram.com/whispers_of_charleston?utm_source=qr&igsh=MXY2dnNma3NycHF0ZQ==]  Come Join the Facebook Group : https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1HTUeeqqK4/ [https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1HTUeeqqK4/]  Subscribe, Like, and Share the videos: www.youtube.com/@WhispersofCharleston [http://www.youtube.com/@WhispersofCharleston]  Join the Patreon Family : https://patreon.com/CharlestonWhispers?utm_medium=unknown&utm_source=join_link&utm_campaign=creatorshare_creator&utm_content=copyLink [https://patreon.com/CharlestonWhispers?utm_medium=unknown&utm_source=join_link&utm_campaign=creatorshare_creator&utm_content=copyLink]
