Descripción

Do you ever avoid doing something because you feel nervous, awkward or uncomfortable? Maybe it’s going somewhere on your own, asking for a refund, saying no, having a difficult conversation, or putting yourself in a situation where you might feel exposed. In this episode, I’m talking about why nervousness isn’t actually the problem — and why trying to get rid of it can sometimes make it feel even worse. I share a real-life example of going to the theatre on my own, how I prepared for the awkward bits ahead of time, and how visualising myself feeling nervous and doing it anyway helped me move through the discomfort without making it a drama. We’ll also look at why confidence doesn’t come before you do the thing. It comes after. Because the other side of awkwardness, nervousness and discomfort is often the confidence you’ve been waiting for. This week, I invite you to practise doing something uncomfortable on purpose — not something dangerous, not something that genuinely puts you at risk, but something your brain has been avoiding because it feels awkward. You don’t need to feel ready. You don’t need to feel confident. You don’t need to get rid of the nerves first. You can do it nervous. If this episode resonates and you’d love help applying this work to your own life, come and experience coaching with me. Talking it through with someone else can be one of the most transformative gifts you give yourself. episode Ep #115 - Hating Your Body Won’t Help You Look After It artwork

Ep #115 - Hating Your Body Won’t Help You Look After It

How often do you look at your body and immediately notice what’s “wrong” with it? The size, the shape, the ageing, the aches, the bits you wish were different… In this episode, I’m talking about the way we think about our physical bodies — and why hating, criticising or constantly picking yourself apart is never going to help you feel better, take care of yourself, or create lasting change. This isn’t about pretending you love every single inch of your body. That’s not always realistic, and honestly, it can feel like another stick to beat yourself with. Instead, I’m inviting you to look for gratitude. Because your body is doing so much for you. It lets you walk, breathe, see, hear, speak, hug your children, eat food, move through the world, and experience your life. And when you start choosing to focus on what your body does for you, rather than only what you think is wrong with it, something shifts. With love and absolutely no bullshit, this episode will help you start building a kinder, more useful relationship with the body you’ve been given.  In this episode, I talk about: *  Why your brain naturally focuses on what’s wrong  *  Why body hatred doesn’t help you take better care of yourself  *  The difference between loving your body and feeling grateful for it  *  How to find something about your body you can appreciate  *  Why the way you speak to your body matters  You don’t have to love every bit of your body. But you can stop being so cruel to it. And that’s a bloody good place to start. Ep #114 - Teens, Apps & Disobedience

In this episode, I'm sharing something that happened a few weekends ago with my Teenagers & some Apps that we had said they weren't allowed.  It's recorded via my phone whilst I was in the car, so the sound quality isn't brilliant and I don't have the transcript or video for this episode, but I really hope this story helps you & your teenagers. Ride along with me & learn some skills around controlling yourself, parenting from love rather than frustration and how to have an effective conversation with out all the added drama. What I'm talking about in this episode will not only help you with your family, but also at work, with clients or even complete strangers on the street. I hope you enjoy it. episode Ep #113 - When Shame Made Me Hide artwork

Ep #113 - When Shame Made Me Hide

In this episode, I’m sharing something a bit more personal. After avoiding recording the podcast for a couple of weeks, I got curious about what was really going on underneath it. And what I found was shame. Shame around not being where I think I “should” be. Shame around money. Shame around consistency. Shame around that horrible little voice that says, “Who the fuck are you to be doing this?” But here’s the thing — shame makes us hide. It keeps us quiet. It stops us showing up. And if we’re not careful, we let it drive our behaviour without even realising. So in this episode, I’m talking about what shame actually does, how it shows up, and how we can begin to create safety around it instead of letting it keep us small. Because nothing changes if your habits don’t change. And you are allowed to expand. In this episode, I talk about: *  Why shame makes us want to hide  *  The difference between facts and your brain’s drama  *  How “should” thoughts make us feel like shit  *  Money, self-worth and emotional safety  *  Why creating new habits matters if you want a different life  *  Choosing expansion, even when your brain wants to run away  You can also watch this episode on YouTube with Captions - https://www.youtube.com/@TheWorkingWomensLifeCoach [https://www.youtube.com/@TheWorkingWomensLifeCoach] If you'd like to have a chat about how I can help you further, please don't hesitate to click here & book a time with me [https://CoachingwithNickyBevan.as.me/curious], I'd love to meet you. episode Ep #112 - How to Parent Your Teenager Through Exam Season artwork

Ep #112 - How to Parent Your Teenager Through Exam Season

During exam season, it’s so easy as a parent to slip into panic, pressure and control — especially when your teenager doesn’t seem to be revising enough, sleeping enough, eating properly, or taking it all as seriously as you think they should. But here’s the loving truth: you are not the one sitting the exam. In this episode, I’m talking about how to support your teenager through GCSEs or exam season without making their results mean something about you, your parenting, or their future. We’ll look at: – how to separate the facts from your brain’s drama  – why your teenager’s results are not a measure of your worth  – how to step into calm authority instead of emotional panic  – what you can control, and what you absolutely can’t  – how to create a supportive home environment without trying to control their motivation Because your job isn’t to force, nag or panic them into performing. Your job is to parent the child who is sitting the exam — with calm, steadiness and love. If exam season is bringing tension into your house, this episode is for you.
