One Body: Sanctification, Part 3 Lesson 29 in our series (series began September 7, 2025) Click here to view the lesson slides [https://canva.link/tvtunbkfmof8tdp] Lesson Summary In this lesson, we continue studying sanctification by looking more closely at the Christian’s daily struggle with the old Adam. God has made us new in Christ and clothed us in His righteousness, while the sinful flesh still clings to us and seeks to regain mastery over us. This lesson helps us understand the phrase “simultaneously justified and sinner” in a careful way. Our true identity is found in Christ, in the righteousness He gives, and in the new creation He has made us to be. The old Adam remains dangerous and must be drowned, crucified, and denied rather than negotiated with or excused. We also reflect on why the struggle with sin is painful, why Christians should not be surprised by it, and why God’s Word, worship, prayer, and the Lord’s Supper are such necessary gifts. Christ and His Spirit continue to comfort, strengthen, forgive, and sustain us as we fight the good fight of faith. Sermon: "Saving Private Ryan is Not Saving Grace" (Mt. 11)

"Saving Private Ryan is Not Saving Grace" Sermon for the Sixth Sunday After Pentecost Pastor Matt Doebler Sermon Text: Matthew 11:25-30 (I will give you rest...) Key Thought God's grace is the unmerited, free favor that he shows to sinners for the sake of his Son, Jesus Christ. God's saving grace can never be earned by the worthy, it can only be received by the unworthy. TLCnorfolk.com Our mission is to make disciples and make them stronger through Word and Sacrament. Sermon: "Not Peace...But a Sword" (Mt. 10)

"Not Peace...But a Sword" Sermon for the Fifth Sunday After Pentecost Pastor Matt Doebler Sermon Text: Matthew 10:34-32 (not peace, but a sword...) Key Thought Discipleship is not about creating peace and unity where Jesus himself does not create peace and unity. True peace and unity for disciples come from loving Jesus and his Word above all. TLCnorfolk.com Our mission is to make disciples and make them stronger through Word and Sacrament. Sermon: "No Trinity? No Salvation." (Gen. 1)

"No Trinity? No Salvation." Sermon for The Feast of the Holy Trinity Pastor Matt Doebler Sermon Text: Genesis 1 (the creation account) Key Thought The mystery of the Trinity cannot be grasped by human reason. Faith receives what God has revealed: one God in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This same Triune God who created all things in the beginning now makes sinners new through Holy Baptism, placing His name upon us and giving forgiveness, life, and salvation. TLCnorfolk.com Our mission is to make disciples and make them stronger through Word and Sacrament.
