Episode 60 - Rosie Skene

In this solo episode, Rosie opens up about what's been happening behind the scenes — the challenges of 2025, navigating workers comp stress, discovering perimenopause, and learning when to pause and reset. She also shares a heartfelt thank you to Kath, a Queensland Police Officer who bravely discussed domestic violence within policing, and reflects on why she started Triumph Beyond Trauma: to share the real stories of First Responders and Veterans finding light beyond the dark. As she wraps up the year, Rosie talks about growth, gratitude, and what's next for 2026 — including her continued passion for mental wellness through Tactical Yoga Australia.     ** Content Warning ** Due to the nature of this Podcast and the discussions that I have with Guests, I feel it's important to underline that there may be content within the episodes that have the potential to cause harm. Episode 59 - Daniel Vincent

Daniel is a former Australian Army soldier who dedicated 16 years to service and now champions veterans' successful transition into civilian life, notably as the Chair of Trojan's Trek and Director of Operations at Go2 Health. Our conversation explores his profound personal journey, starting from intense early deployments and sustaining a severe spinal injury that forced him to change his military path. Daniel's story is one of resilience and self-discovery, from fighting to stay in the Army and reinventing his career, to confronting dramatic life events that led him to a crucial moment of self-reflection. This chat goes to all sorts of places, from retracing history on the demanding Kokoda Track trek—which was a huge success, raising more than $100,000 for Trojan's Trek —to diving into a topic Rosie's long wanted to explore: micro-dosing and psilocybin. Daniel openly shares his powerful five-part psychedelic journey, detailing how it brought him a deeper connection with his family and ultimately helped him achieve an 'ego death'. This episode is packed with deep connections, lightbulb moments, and the beautiful philosophy that while "life has to be lived forward," we "only understand it in reverse". You'll gain both wisdom and inspiration from his amazing story!   ** Content Warning ** Due to the nature of this Podcast and the discussions that I have with Guests, I feel it's important to underline that there may be content within the episodes that have the potential to cause harm. Episode 57 - Hayley Boswell

This episode of Triumph Beyond Trauma explores the inspiring work of Hayley Boswell, founder of Defence Kidz — a movement that has reached over 17,000 children from defence and veteran families across Australia. Hayley shares the personal experience that sparked her first book, the milestones in advocating for defence kids in schools, and the importance of helping children feel seen, understood, and supported. We also dive into the emotional realities of growing up in a defence or veteran family — the challenges of deployment, constant change, and separation — and how storytelling can help kids process and connect. From building community to influencing policy, Hayley's journey is a powerful reminder of how one idea, born from lived experience, can create meaningful change for thousands.   ** Content Warning ** Due to the nature of this Podcast and the discussions that I have with Guests, I feel it's important to underline that there may be content within the episodes that have the potential to cause harm. Episode 56 - Narelle Mason

This week on Triumph Beyond Trauma, we're featuring Narelle Mason — a Level 2 registered counsellor, former South Australian Police Officer, Royal Australian Air Force veteran, and co-founder of Frontline Mental Health with Matt Newlands. With over 15 years of frontline service, Narelle knows the impact high-pressure roles can have on mental health, identity, and family life. After her own medical discharge, she faced the reality of rebuilding life outside of uniform while raising a child with significant needs and supporting a partner still serving. That journey now drives her passion for helping first responders and veterans spot the early signs of struggle, build resilience, and create healthier ways to cope. In this episode, Narelle shares how she and Matt are shaking things up through programs like Stress, Resilience & Functioning and the Struggle Well initiative (partnered with Boulder Crest Foundation) — designed to do more than just tick boxes, but to create real cultural change. She also opens up about her personal goals, the work she's doing on emotional growth, and why this mission means so much to her.   ** Content Warning ** Due to the nature of this Podcast and the discussions that I have with Guests, I feel it's important to underline that there may be content within the episodes that have the potential to cause harm.
