Descripción

In this Father's Day talk, Geoff, our guest speaker, talks about the importance of building a lasting legacy that impacts future generations, drawing inspiration from the life of Daniel in the Old Testament. Despite facing extreme adversity as a captive in a foreign land, Daniel left a profound, enduring legacy by consistently choosing faithfulness and integrity. Geoff identifies four essential "building blocks" for creating a meaningful legacy: * Deep Convictions: Choosing to live by one's convictions, as Daniel did when he resolved not to defile himself with royal food. * Bold Faith: Stepping out in faith even when the path forward is unclear, illustrated by Daniel's willingness to interpret the king's dream. * Courageous Truth: Speaking necessary, difficult truths boldly, such as when Daniel confronted Belshazzar regarding his failure. * Consistent Prayer: Establishing prayer as an unbreakable habit, even in the face of death, which served as the foundation of Daniel's life. Sharing the personal story of his own grandfather - a once dangerous man who was transformed by faith and became a committed, praying patriarch - Geoff highlights that a powerful, generational legacy is often built through lifetime habits rather than isolated dramatic moments.

3 Golden Questions

What if the life you're chasing isn't actually the one you were made for? In this message, we unpack three "golden questions" hiding inside two of the Bible's most challenging books, Colossians and Acts, and ask what it would look like to let them reshape how you pray, what you're living for, and who you're doing life with. This teaching walks through Colossians 2 and Acts 2 to show how the early church was marked by radical difference - not just different beliefs, but a different identity altogether. From there, we dig into three themes threaded through both books: prayer (including the story of the 1949 Hebrides Revival), purpose (living according to God's plan rather than your own), and people (why following Jesus was never meant to be a solo sport). Whether you're a longtime believer or just spiritually curious, this episode offers a practical, honest look at Christian community, identity, and purpose for young adults navigating faith today. Rooted in Christ, Rooted Together | Verso Church | Yasmin M.

Colossians 4:7–18 closes Paul's letter with a long list of names, but each one carries a picture of what it means to be rooted together as a church. A strong root system needs every ordinary strand to play its part, roots that stay healthy must cross social boundaries to share what they have, and roots that intertwine can feel inconvenient, but they're exactly what keeps us from falling when the storm hits.We were never meant to grow alone. As Genesis 2:18 puts it, "it is not good for man to be alone," and Paul's own life, surrounded by co-workers, fellow prisoners and dear friends, shows what it looks like to be planted deep in community rather than isolated in self-sufficiency.00:00 Welcome / Intro03:00 Scripture reading (Colossians 4:7–18)06:46 Point 1 – A strong root system needs every ordinary strand10:32 Point 2 – Healthy roots cross social boundaries20:43 Point 3 – Intertwined roots keep us from falling27:06 Reflection & application28:36 Closing / invitation to prayery.
