When our joy is rooted in comfort, adversity shakes us. But when our joy is rooted in Christ, even hardship becomes an opportunity for the greatness of Jesus to be put on display. Biblical joy is not temporary happiness based on circumstances. It is a deep and permeant awareness of God’s grace in Christ. And when that joy takes hold of our hearts, it naturally and supernaturally overflows into mission. Mission is not primarily about going or doing. It is about being a people so captivated by the beauty of Jesus and so satisfied in Him that His glory spills into every corner of life. As a result, we pray, give, and send. These are not duties we perform, but the overflow of a church whose joy is anchored in Christ and whose desire is to advance the gospel.

Book of Colossians Week 8 — Colossians 3:1-4

The resurrection of Jesus does not simply inspire believers. It redirects every part of life. Through our union with Christ, we have died with Him, been raised with Him, and our lives are now hidden with Christ in God. In a world searching for identity in success, suffering, politics, or approval, the gospel reminds us that our truest identity is found in Christ alone. Paul calls believers to seek the things above and set their minds on Christ. Resurrection life reshapes not only what we believe, but what we pursue. And because Jesus rose from the dead, suffering, sin, and death will we have a future hope that is meant to redirect how we wait. One day, when Christ appears, His people will appear with Him in glory.

Book of Colossians Week 7 — Colossians 3:1-2

There are moments in life that redirect everything. A wedding. A move. A loss. A new beginning. But the Apostle Paul says the resurrection of Jesus was never meant to be a moment we celebrate once a year. It was meant to redirect everything about us. “If then you have been raised with Christ… set your minds on things above.” Colossians 3:1–2

Work can feel exhausting, frustrating, meaningless, or even crushing at times. But what if God cares far more about who you are becoming through your work than just the job itself?
