episode Call Me Bitter artwork

Call Me Bitter

Episode Title: Call Me Bitter Life has a way of leaving wounds that, if left unhealed, can quietly grow into bitterness. But bitterness doesn't have to be the end of our story. In this episode of The Freedom Collective Podcast, host Sally Russell is joined by co-host Abby Bailey as they explore the lives of several women in Scripture—including Hannah, Ruth, Tamar, and Lot's wife—and what their stories teach us about responding to hardship, grief, disappointment, and loss. Together, they discuss how our pain can either harden our hearts or become an invitation to healing through Christ. In our trauma-informed segment, Sally shares practical encouragement on re-centering after emotional triggers. Trauma can keep us stuck in survival mode long after the danger has passed, but healing is possible. Learn simple grounding practices, biblical truth, and compassionate reminders that help us return to peace instead of spiraling. Whether you're navigating the effects of trauma, walking through a difficult season, or simply longing to grow deeper in your faith, this episode offers hope, biblical encouragement, and the reminder that your past does not have to define your future. You are deeply loved, wonderfully made, and there is always hope for healing.

episode Let Freedom Ring artwork

Let Freedom Ring

Freedom isn't always lost behind locked doors. Sometimes it's stolen through deception, manipulation, and the influence of someone who claims to speak for God. In this powerful Fourth of July special, we welcome Dr. Christine Marie, featured in the Netflix documentary Trust Me: False Profit. She courageously shares her personal experience of becoming entangled with a false prophet, the devastating impact it had on her life, and how God redeemed her story. Rather than walking away from the pain, Dr. Christine returned to that same community with a mission: to help other women recognize spiritual abuse, escape coercive control, and find freedom. Together, we discuss the realities of trafficking and exploitation, why it doesn't always look the way we've been taught to imagine, and why education is one of the greatest tools we have to protect ourselves and others. Whether you're a survivor, someone who supports survivors, or simply someone who wants to better understand the complexities of exploitation and spiritual abuse, this conversation will challenge, encourage, and equip you. This Independence Day, we're reminded that true freedom is more than a national celebration—it's the freedom found in truth, healing, and ultimately, in Christ. We pray this conversation encourages you to let freedom ring in every area of your life.

episode The Anchor Holds artwork

The Anchor Holds

In Mark 4:35, the disciples found themselves caught in the middle of a violent storm while Jesus slept peacefully in the boat. What’s powerful is that it wasn’t the storm that woke Jesus — it was the sound of His disciples’ voices crying out to Him. In today’s episode, we talk about what it means to trust God in the middle of life’s storms. Jesus wasn’t afraid of the wind or the waves because even creation obeys Him. Sometimes the storm around us feels overwhelming, but our faith is not built on understanding God’s activity — it’s built on confidence in God’s character. Romans 10 reminds us that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. So wherever you are today — whether you feel exhausted, uncertain, stuck, or tossed around by circumstances — we pray this episode reminds you that Jesus is still present in the storm, and He is still speaking, “Peace, be still.” We also share a trauma-informed message for women who may feel pressure to leave difficult situations before they are emotionally, mentally, spiritually, or physically ready. Healing is not linear, and shame has no place in your story. There is grace for the process, and your life has immeasurable value. You are loved by your Creator. You are not forgotten. And the storm does not get the final word. If you need support: National Domestic Violence Hotline: 800-799-SAFE (7233) National Human Trafficking Hotline: 888-373-7888 Text “BEFREE” to 233733

episode Born with Purpose artwork

Born with Purpose

Episode Title: Born With Purpose In this powerful episode of Whispers of Hope, we explore the truth that purpose isn’t something you earn—it’s something you’re born into, even in the midst of pain, struggle, and imperfection. In our trauma-informed segment, we take a deeper look at trauma bonds—what they are, how they form, and the 7 phases of the cycle that can keep people emotionally and psychologically stuck. With compassion and clarity, we unpack these patterns to bring awareness, validation, and the first steps toward healing. In our devotional, Abby walks us through the story of Samson in the book of Judges. Though Samson was flawed and made difficult choices, he was still called, still anointed, and still used by God. His story reminds us that our imperfections do not disqualify us from purpose. God’s calling remains, and His strength is made perfect in our weakness. This episode is a reminder that no matter your past or your present circumstances—you were born with purpose, and hope is never out of reach.
