My wife Johnnetta Bryant poured out her heart as she poetically captured the essence of "Juneteenth" finally becoming a Federal Holiday.  Putting words to an already powerful context, she expressed the strength and endurance of "black people" and our will to LIVE RESPECTED, BE FREE and STAY FREE.  -God bless.

"How Long, LORD???" (Moment of Prayer) **Independence Day Edition**

I believe it’s important to note that, since the beginning; since the establishment of America on July 4, 1776, slavery (of “black” Africans) existed.  From 1776 until 1865 (when all slaves were deemed free), that’s 89 years that Black people endured the oppression, hatred, and wicked injustices that slavery produces. To date, it has been 158 years, 15 decades, and almost 2 centuries that Black people have endured racial injustice since the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, which potentially abolished the slavery of ONLY “some” Black people in these United States of America.  It wasn’t until 1865, two years later that all Black people were deemed free; it happened that year on June 19th, the original Black Freedom Day.
