Beschrijving

How does one balance being a progressive and still respecting traditions? Dawn Marie Castro, from The Young Feminists Collective and Pilipina, gave us some insight on how she balances those two in her relationship/marriage (and in life in general) . We sometimes encounter people who see things in black or white, but I'm glad to know people like Dawn, who sees life as the colorful beautiful (sometimes messy) learning experience that it is. Oh, and of course we had to talk about her love life. That's just a given :)

08. Shameless Self-Awareness is Key (with Carl Barnes)

It's always fascinating to catch up with someone who you have seen in a very long time. Carl Barnes is one such person. In the span of our conversation, we talked about how he plans out his professional life, what motivates him, addressing privilege, and the importance of proper communication. Yes, we covered a lot, but the underlying theme seems to be self-awareness. Barnes stresses the importance of knowing who you are and what you're about.  Lots of "aha" moments in this episode because we're so different. Learned a lot. Thanks so much Barnes for being a part of this. I can safely say you've come a long way from that being that kid I met back in SDSU :)  Hope you guys enjoy this episode and please check out Barnes' podcasts: "The RD2Be Podcast" and "One Man's Trash" (both are on Spotify).
