Have you ever had a five-minute event ruin five hours of your day? Maybe it was a frustrating conversation, an unexpected setback, a disagreement, or a comment that stayed in your mind long after it happened. In this episode of the Alive Soul Podcast, I explore the concept of emotional intelligence and why it may be one of the most important skills we can develop. The more I’ve learned about emotional intelligence, the more I’ve realized how much it affects our daily energy, relationships, stress levels, and overall quality of life. This isn’t a lecture from an expert. It’s a reflection from someone who is still learning and trying to apply these principles in everyday life. We’ll discuss: • What emotional intelligence really means • Why some emotions drain our energy more than others • The four pillars of emotional intelligence • Why many of our regrets come from our reactions, not our emotions • How to create a pause between an emotion and a response If you’ve ever struggled with frustration, overthinking, stress, or emotional exhaustion, I hope this conversation gives you something to reflect on. Keep growing. Keep learning. Keep your soul alive.

The All-or-Nothing Trap: How Perfectionism Keeps You Stuck

Have you ever skipped a workout because you couldn’t do the full workout? Put off a goal because you couldn’t do it perfectly? Or abandoned a habit after missing a few days? Many of us fall into the trap of all-or-nothing thinking—the belief that if something can’t be done perfectly, it isn’t worth doing at all. In this episode, I reflect on a lesson I learned while recovering from a neck injury. When running and cycling became difficult, I found myself doing less and less until I realized I was waiting for ideal conditions before taking action. A simple shift in mindset—and a few walks each week—reminded me that progress doesn’t have to be perfect to count. We talk about perfectionism, consistency, adapting when life doesn’t go according to plan, and why small actions often matter more than we realize. Because most of life isn’t lived under perfect conditions. And sometimes the difference between staying stuck and moving forward is simply being willing to do the smaller version. The shorter walk. The shorter workout. The imperfect step. Sometimes the goal isn’t perfection. Sometimes the goal is simply to stay connected and keep moving forward. 🎙️ If this episode resonates with you, share it with someone who might need the reminder. We all grow better when we do it together.

How Comparison Can Make You Feel Behind and Steal Your Joy

We all compare sometimes. You can be making progress, showing up, growing, feeling good about your path… and then one look at somebody else’s journey suddenly makes you feel behind. In this episode, I reflect on a moment I experienced this week after listening to another podcast in the personal growth space, and how comparison quietly started stealing my joy and making me overlook my own progress. We talk about the kind of comparison that inspires growth, the kind that discourages us, and why so many of us end up comparing our real lives to the polished version of somebody else’s. Most importantly, this episode is a reminder to stop measuring your journey against somebody else’s timeline and reconnect with how far you’ve already come. Because maybe you’re not behind. Maybe you’re just earlier.

The “I Don’t Feel Like Showing Up” Mode: How to Take Action Anyway

We all have those moments… That “I don’t feel like showing up” feeling. You know what you need to do—but you just don’t feel like doing it. No motivation. No energy. Just resistance. In this episode, I talk about what’s really happening in those moments, why they matter more than we think, and how to respond in a way that builds consistency instead of breaking it. We’ll go beyond just “pushing through” and look at: * Why we lose motivation * How overcommitment and low energy play a role * What happens when we start relying only on ourselves instead of reconnecting with God * And how small actions can help you regain momentum Because the truth is… the days you don’t feel like showing up are often the days that define you the most. If you’ve been feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just not motivated lately, this episode is for you.
