Welcome back, lovelies!  This week we're taking the plunge into the history surrounding the large scale looting initiated by the Nazi's during World War II—aka my research! We cover "degenerate art", the various ways museum officials and cultural institutions alike attempted to save their works during occupation, conversations surrounding the link between cultural property and cultural identity, and more! This episode is part 1 of this series examining WWII art theft and the ripple effects we've seen in the wake of its aftermath. Tune in next week to listen to me talk about specific case studies and instances of looted art covered in this episode! I hope you enjoy learning through this weeks episode and if you have any questions feel free to shoot me a message through our IG page! Hi lovelies! This Sunday we explore the final part (for now) in my series on WWII Art Restitution: The Story of the Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I. This episode is incredibly important to me because Adele's story, and the story of her niece Maria Altmann, is so indicative of the necessity for cultural property restitution. I wanted to highlight both of these amazing women and the strides each made to maintain their family legacy. I hope you enjoy this journey with me and that learning about Adele and Maria gives you a new perspective on the need for art restitution as a whole.  List of available resources to learn more about topics covered in this episode: 1. https://www.jewishbookcouncil.org/book/lost-lives-lost-art-jewish-collectors-nazi-art-theft-and-the-quest-for-justice 2. https://shop.neuegalerie.org/products/portrait-of-adele-bloch-bauer 3. https://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/09/arts/design/09altmann.html Follow Us: Instagram—@arttofinish Twitter—@arttofinishpod Intro & Outro Music Produced by Lucid Abyss on Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music. Happy Sunday, Lovelies! This week we explore the second part in my series about the impact of the art theft carried out by the Nazi's during WWI. We specifically explore the lives of Walter Westfeld and Max Silberberg, and the ways in which the restitution cases surrounding their stolen works mirror the discrimination they experienced during their lives. This episode is very intense emotionally and offers a lot to reflect upon. I hope you enjoy learning about these two incredible men's lives and that you take something away from hearing their stories. In talking about them, we will never truly forget what they experienced.  List of available resources to learn more about topics covered in this episode: 1. https://www.jewishbookcouncil.org/book/lost-lives-lost-art-jewish-collectors-nazi-art-theft-and-the-quest-for-justice 2. https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/121563/the-rape-of-europa-by-lynn-h-nicholas/ Follow Us: Instagram—@arttofinish Twitter—@arttofinishpod Intro & Outro Music Produced by Lucid Abyss on Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music. Ep. #1: Back to Basics

Hi Lovelies! Welcome back for the first *official* episode of Art to Finish! This week we're taking a deep dive into the terms, phrases, recommendations, and conventions that shape our understanding of Art History and Cultural Heritage. This episode felt super necessary to make as my first real show for this pod because I wanted to cover things that many people probably haven't heard before. While a lot of this is second nature to me and people within these fields, for the average person this likely isn't terminology you're used to hearing or using in your day-to-day lives. I hope you enjoy learning through this weeks episode and if you have any questions feel free to shoot me a message through our IG page!  List of resources mentioned in this episode: 1. https://ip51.icomos.org/~fleblanc/documents/terminology/doc_terminology_e.html 2. https://www.getty.edu/conservation/publications_resources/research_resources/charters.html#1970 Follow Us: Instagram—@arttofinish Twitter—@arttofinishpod Intro & Outro Music Produced by Lucid Abyss on Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music.
