Beschrijving

In Luke 1:5-25, Luke pulls back the curtain on how God breaks 400 years of silence by announcing the birth of John the Baptist. Through the story of Zechariah and Elizabeth, we see how God accomplishes His purposes in ways we often don’t understand. He works through suffering saints, hears and responds to the prayers of His people, fulfills His promises even after centuries of waiting, and remains faithful even when we waver in belief. Zechariah’s doubt didn’t derail God’s plan, and Elizabeth’s lifelong pain became the backdrop for God’s glory. Through suffering saints. (5-7) Responding to the prayers of his people. (8-13) Fulfilling his promises. (14-17) Remaining faithful when his people are faithless. (18-25)

Luke 1:1-4

We live in a world full of uncertainty. But, while everything around us feels unstable, God wants us to have certainty about one thing: the truth of Jesus Christ and the gospel. In Luke 1:1-4, Luke tells us that he wrote his gospel account so that believers would be confident in what they have been taught. He gives us three reasons for that confidence: Jesus is the fulfillment of the Old Testament, His life and resurrection were seen by many trustworthy eyewitnesses, and Luke carefully investigated every detail before writing. Our faith isn’t built on blind hope or vague spirituality—it’s anchored in real historical events, seen and recorded by real people. When the world feels shaky, Jesus remains the firm foundation we can build our lives upon. Fulfillment (verse 1) Eyewitnesses (verse 2) Investigation (verse 3)
