The latest figures from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry show 439 electric vehicles were sold in the county between January and June, up from 218 during the same period last year. Overall, 1,817 passenger cars were sold in Clare, representing a 6% increase on the first half of 2025. Obair "Devastated" Following "Unfair" Burglary In Newmarket-On-Fergus

A Clare community services provider that suffered a break-in last week says staff are "devastated" by the incident which they've branded as "unfair". Obair on the Ennis Road in Newmarket-on-Fergus was burgled in the early hours of last Wednesday morning, with the perpetrators absconding with approximately €600 in cash. The service operates a Meals on Wheels service which caters to over 300 people five days a week, while the building also contains a creche, an afterschool and post-primary programme, remote working hubs, a youth café and an environmental section. Siobhan Griffin, who works for Obair, says the burglary is particularly upsetting in the context of the positive work the organisation does in the community.
