new series! join me tues and thurs for new episodes. available on youtube as well @cloversclassics The joy of early spring has always seemed to me an absolute marvel in its own right. It has not the warm comfort of June, nor the pristine hibernation of December. No - the murky in between of winter and spring is often filled with a certain undeniable desolation. Yet, there is no other time of year where the sensations of life seem so pronounced. It is as if the earth, the sky, and oneself is waking up from a collective slumber. New buds push out of old trees. The grass emerges - miraculously - after another harsh and unforgiving winter. I've heard the opening scenes of the book described as "gothic". While I may not use that exact wording, the hints to themes of death, neglect, and isolation does pay due attention to that certain unmistakable bleakness before bloom. But at its core, The Secret Garden is more like spring than one might imagine. The mud, rain, and bare branches fail to mask the pure innocent joy that is the annual welcoming of life.  This is a story of three kids, two spoilt, and one decidingly not. It is a story of mutual growth, healing and friendship. Yet, above all, it is a story of the awe-inspiring resilience and beauty of nature, and the magic it may wield on the unknowing soul.    Happy listening, clover ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Music: Traveler, Nomadic Sunset, Nomadic Dawn, Jökull (Piano Version), and Cold Journey by Alexander Nakarada (www.serpentsoundstudios.com)  Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0  License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/music
