June 16 Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. - Ephesians 5:15,16 Be very careful to observe the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways and to keep his commandments and to cling to him and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul. - Joshua 22:5 Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person. - Colossians 4:5-6 Abstain from every form of evil. - 1 Thessalonians 5:22 As the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept. But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’ - Matthew 25:5,6 Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming. - Matthew 25:13 Brothers, be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall. - 2 Peter 1:10 Blessed are those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes. - Luke 12:37 Adapted from “Daily Light”, published by Samuel Bagster in 1875. June 17 In everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. - Philippians 4:6 I love the LORD, because he has heard my voice and my pleas for mercy. Because he inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live. - Psalms 116:1,2 When you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. - Matthew 6:7 The Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. - Romans 8:26 I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling. - 1 Timothy 2:8 Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. - Ephesians 6:18 I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. - Matthew 18:19 Adapted from “Daily Light”, published by Samuel Bagster in 1875. June 15 Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap… Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin… do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried. All the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them. - Luke 12:24,27,29-30 If we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows. - 1 Timothy 6:8-10. …the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it proves unfruitful. - Mark 4:19. Let us lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. - Hebrews 12:1-2 Adapted from “Daily Light”, published by Samuel Bagster in 1875. June 14 For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too. - 2 Corinthians 1:5 …that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death. - Philippians 3:10 Rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed. - 1 Peter 4:13 If we have died with him, we will also live with him. - 2 Timothy 2:11 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him. - Romans 8:16-17 So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us. - Hebrews 6:17-18 God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word. - 2 Thessalonians 2:16, 17 Adapted from “Daily Light”, published by Samuel Bagster in 1875. June 13 Abide in me, and I in you. - John 15:4 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. - Galatians 2:20 I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! - Romans 7:18, 24-25 If Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. - Romans 8:10 Continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard. - Colossians 1:23 Little children, abide in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not shrink from him in shame at his coming. Whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked. - 1 John 2:28, 6 Adapted from “Daily Light”, published by Samuel Bagster in 1875. This is a public episode.
