DBWS 2-21: Honey Puppy b/w Witch Cat Records This episode is a special two-fer. The first half is a discussion with Athens, GA upstart Honeypuppy about their "Dirty TV" release. Their previous work and "Dirty TV release on Cloud Recordings can be purchased here: https://honeypuppy.bandcamp.com Then things transition to a talk with Johnny of Witch Cat Records about his very unique physical releases of both experimental ambient music and re-releases of Elephant 6 associated artists. You can find the large Witch Cat catalog on BandCamp here: https://witchcatrecords.bandcamp.com https://patreon.com/dontbotherwearingseatbelts?utm_medium=unknown&utm_source=join_link&utm_campaign=creatorshare_fan&utm_content=copyLink Speaking of, Don’t Bother Wearing Seatbelts also has a Patreon!!! Joining the Patreon, and pledging at the Reckless Driver level ($1 monthly) allows you to participate in our monthly giveaways. There will always be at least one giveaway per month, often there will be two or more per month, and each giveaway will include at least one piece of physical media (cd, cassette, or vinyl record.) There will be times that the winner can choose the format of the media that they receive, but as long as the album was pressed on vinyl there will always be that option available for the winner (we’re vinyl fanatics here at DBWS.) Sometimes it could be just the album in question, and other times there will be quite a few things included (t-shirts, stickers, artwork, etc..) DBWS 2-25 - Happy Happy Birthday To Me With Mike Turner

PLEASE READ BEFORE LISTENING • This episode contains frank discussions of autism. You will actually hear us talking about cutting the entire section before it airs. However, we, along with Mike, decided that the conversation was extremely interesting, inspiring, and important to the story being told. On this special episode, we're joined by one of the most influential and creative figures connected to the Elephant 6 universe: Michael Turner. As the founder of Happy Happy Birthday to Me Records, Michael has championed countless Elephant 6 artists and helped introduce an incredible wave of independent music to the world. He's also the driving force behind the legendary Athens Popfest, where so many unforgettable Elephant 6 performances and reunions have taken place over the years. In this epic two-part conversation, Michael takes us behind the scenes of Happy Happy Birthday to Me, shares stories from the early days of the label, reflects on the Athens music community, and offers a fascinating look at the artists, friendships, and moments that helped shape one of indie rock's most beloved musical collectives. https://patreon.com/dontbotherwearingseatbelts?utm_medium=unknown&utm_source=join_link&utm_campaign=creatorshare_fan&utm_content=copyLink Speaking of, Don’t Bother Wearing Seatbelts also has a Patreon!!! DBWS 2-24 Elf Power Vainly Clurching with Andrew Reiger

DBWS 2-24 Elf Power Vainly Clurching with Andrew Reiger Here's another season one episode freed from behind the paywall. This episode marked the official start of Patrick Tape Fleming' as a co-host. We kinda forgot to tell Andrew Reiger about it ahead of time. But no biggie... They actually know each other and are fans of each other's musical work. We mostly discuss Elf Power's lo-fi 1995 masterpiece of a debut release "Vainly Clutching at Phantom Limbs", but, per usual, the conversation wanders. Whether you are familiar with Andrew's work or not, prepare to be edumacated and enraptured by the magic of Elf Power! https://patreon.com/dontbotherwearingseatbelts?utm_medium=unknown&utm_source=join_link&utm_campaign=creatorshare_fan&utm_content=copyLink Speaking of, Don’t Bother Wearing Seatbelts also has a Patreon!!! DBWS 2-23: The Sunshine Fix — Age of the Sun

DBWS 2-23: The Sunshine Fix — Age of the Sun As the 1990s came to a close, the Elephant 6 universe entered one of its most fascinating and creative chapters. The Olivia Tremor Control — the Athens, Georgia kaleidoscopic psychedelic pop machine that helped define an era .. had drifted into different corners of time and space. Its two visionary songwriters began exploring new worlds: Will Cullen Hart traveled deeper into the dreamlike experimental galaxies of Circulatory System, while Bill Doss chased the eternal glow of the perfect pop song with The Sunshine Fix. And with Age of the Sun, Bill created his post OTC masterpiece. Filled with Byrds-like harmonies, sun-drenched melodies, 1960s psychedelic color, a little 70's funk and the beautiful layered orchestration we'd come to know from OTC, Age of the Sun feels like a transmission from another dimension.. completely powered by Bill’s unmistakable optimism, his worldly lyrics, and melodic genius On this episode we talk with Sunshine Fix members Derek Almstead and Kevin Sweeney about what it was like working alongside Bill Doss — not just as a songwriter, but as a friend, producer, and bandleader. They share stories of Bill’s kindness, his endless encouragement, his belief in the people around him, and the way he created space for every musician to bring their own personality into the music. Much like Paul McCartney building Wings after that “other little band he was in” Bill wasn’t looking for hired hands. He was building a BAND. This is a conversation about friendship, collaboration, creativity, and the magic that happens when a great songwriter trusts the people around him. https://patreon.com/dontbotherwearingseatbelts?utm_medium=unknown&utm_source=join_link&utm_campaign=creatorshare_fan&utm_content=copyLink Speaking of, Don’t Bother Wearing Seatbelts also has a Patreon!!! DBWS 2-22 Azalia Snail

DBWS 2-22 Azalia Snail We are honored to be joined by the one and only Azalia Snail — the legendary “Queen of Lo-Fi.” A true pioneer of the 1990s underground, Azalia helped shape the sound of home recording, neo-psychedelia, experimental pop, and the DIY universe that so many artists continue to explore today. She is a songwriter, a multi-instrumentalist, a sonic explorer — and someone whose life story almost feels like the indie rock version of Forrest Gump. Somehow, someway, Azalia has crossed paths with everyone from Beck during the explosion of the lo-fi movement to the legendary Dick Van Dyke — collecting stories that sound too magical to be real. In this episode, we talk about her incredible journey, the freedom of making art without rules, and her brand new album coming out on Cloud Recordings — a perfect home for an artist who has always lived in the clouds, creating her own universe one song at a time. So sit back, open your mind, and enjoy our conversation with the endlessly fascinating Azalia Snail.   https://patreon.com/dontbotherwearingseatbelts?utm_medium=unknown&utm_source=join_link&utm_campaign=creatorshare_fan&utm_content=copyLink Speaking of, Don’t Bother Wearing Seatbelts also has a Patreon!!!
