U.S. news and world news daily update for July 9th, 2025. Number one, if you are flying in the US soon, you do not have to remove your shoes anymore for TSA. The new policy goes into effect immediately at all airports nationwide. The no shoe policy was first implemented in 2006. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, said that the new technological advances have made it possible to make this change without compromising safety. Number two, if you are having a child between 2025 and 2028, the story is for you. Your child could be eligible for their very own Trump account. President Trump is going to give $1,000 of seed money to every child born from the beginning of 2025 to the end of 2028. This will be similar to an IRA. Under the new program, parents will have the option to open Trump accounts for any child under 18 at a bank of their choice. Contributions will be capped at $5,000 per year, including up to $2,500 tax free from a parent's employer. The money will grow tax free until it's withdrawn and must be invested in a broad stock index. Account holders can make partial withdrawals when they turn 18 and access the full amount at age 25, but only for qualified purposes, including paying for college, starting a business or buying a first home. They get full access to the funds at age 30 to use for any purpose. Now, once cashed out, distributions will be taxed as long term capital gains if the funds are used for a qualifying purpose. When you spend on anything else will be treated as ordinary income. Number three an Iranian woman who was detained by Ice has been released following advocacy from Republican House Majority Leader Steve Scalise. Donna Kashanian 64 years old, was detained by Ice last month while gardening in her yard at her New Orleans home. She has been living in the United States for 47 years, and her husband and daughter are both US citizens. She has been allowed to stay in the US as long as she has checked in regularly with immigration authorities, which her family and attorney says that she has done. due to the public pressure and political pressure, she was released. Number four in Trump's cabinet meeting yesterday, he suggested taking over New York City and Washington DC. The comments came after he was asked about New York City's upcoming mayoral election. Trump said about Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani, we're not going to have if a communist gets elected to run New York, it can never be the same. But we have tremendous power at the white House to run places where we have to. He also said we could run DC. We're looking at DC. We don't want crime in DC. We want the city to run well. He also said this about DC. We would run it so good it would be run so proper. We'd get the best person to run it. And we know crime would be down to a minimum, would be much less. And, you know, we're thinking about doing it, to be honest with you. Number five, the U.S. Agricultural Secretary, Brooker Rollins, said on Tuesday that there will be no amnesty for agricultural workers as President Trump's administration moves to deport all immigrants in the country illegally. Rollins said the administration wants a 100% American workforce, and suggested that some people receiving government aid could replace immigrant workers. She said, ultimately, the answer on this is automation. Also some reform within the current governing structure. And then also when you think about it, there are 34 million able bodied adults in our Medicaid program. There are plenty of workers in America, she said at a press conference outside the Department of Agricultural Headquarters. now most adults on Medicaid work full or part time or are not working due to illness or disability, caregiving or school attendance, according to a may brief by the health policy organization KFF. Now let's move on to world news. Number one, Russia targeted Ukraine with a record 728 drones overnight. Yesterday, President Trump pledged to send more defensive weapons to Ukraine and criticized Russian President Putin, which was unusual for him. The Ukrainian military downed almost all the drones, with some of the six hypersonic missiles launched did cause unspecified damage. Number two. Yemen's Houthis have damaged a second ship in as many days in the Red sea, targeting a vessel with rocket propelled grenades. There is video of one of these events, which I'll put on my Instagram Reels today, if you want to see that. Number three. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz told reporters that he instructed the IDF and the ministry to bring forward a plan to establish a new humanitarian city in the southern Gaza Strip on the ruins of Rafah. His ideas to accommodate initially some 600,000 Palestinians who have been living in the Mawasi area on the coast after being displaced from elsewhere in the strip after screening them to ensure Hamas members are not entering. Once in the zone, Palestinians will not be able to leave. He also emphasized his ambition to encourage Palestinians to voluntarily emigrate from the Gaza Strip to other countries, saying this should be fulfilled, so essentially shrinking their open air prison and forcing them out by making conditions worse than they already are. For those who are not up to date on the aggression of the Israeli government, on the Palestinian people the last seven decades, I encourage you to look some of this up. Western education has neglected many of us on the details of this history. The Hundred Years War on Palestine is a good book to start with. Or check out my social media. I have documented the last two years and also many historical events. All right. That's it for this episode. Have a great day.
