A year has passed, the famine has persisted, the food the brothers brought back from Egypt has been eaten and Simeon remains in custody as Jacob summons his sons to return to Egypt to buy more food. As much as Israel doesn't want to part with his most beloved, Benjamin, he relents upon realizing that there is no other way.
