Ghosts of the Gazette
This Monday on Ghosts of the Gazette: we’re turning the clock back to 1895! Kendra uncovers the case of Emma Hall, a young woman who went missing from her family and was sent from England to Detroit for what was to be a secret operation but instead, she became the victim of a shocking plot that involved her family friend - Reverend Jonathan Bell. A strange twist involving a reporter and a local Detroit undertaker prevented her from disappearing forever and being buried under a fake name in Detroit’s Forest Lawn Cemetery. Then Blake heads to Atlantic City New Jersey, where millionaire Edward Drouin lived life on his own terms. His extravagant and eccentric personality, unconventional lifestyle, and truly bizarre death made headlines that sound almost too strange to be true. Every other Monday, we dig into fascinating stories from the past — all reported and talked about in the newspapers on the exact same date (though many years ago) as the episode airs. It’s history, headlines, and a touch of mystery, all rolled into your new favourite podcast. Tune in and discover the stories history left behind!
