There is no shortage of opinions on what leadership is and what makes a good leader. We’ve recently realized, however, that there really isn’t a lot “out there” that helps us understand design leadership.  This episode is the 4th in a series of conversations where our founder and principal, Matthew Doty sits down with both leaders of design as well as leaders who value good design. Our goal is to explore what it means to be responsible for teams that design great experiences and what it takes to organize and enable the practice of experience design from the leadership perspective Our guest for this episode is Sarah Timmings Vice President, Strategy & Creative at C Space Available on… YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLLU3wXscyrxTsRU6CZy00TrkoWOECECMA [https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLLU3wXscyrxTsRU6CZy00TrkoWOECECMA]

There is no shortage of opinions on what leadership is and what makes a good leader. We’ve recently realized, however, that there really isn’t a lot “out there” that helps us understand design leadership.  This episode is the 5th in a series of conversations where our founder and principal, Matthew Doty sits down with both leaders of design as well as leaders who value good design. Our goal is to explore what it means to be responsible for teams that design great experiences and what it takes to organize and enable the practice of experience design from the leadership perspective Our guest for this episode is Ling Li. Ling is a veteran designer and design leader with 10 years of experience ranging from art direction, publication, advertising, packaging, brand, and user experience design. Ling’s latest obsession is to demystify the concept of creativity and design in organizations. According to Ling, Life is too short for mediocre design. There is no shortage of opinions on what leadership is and what makes a good leader. We’ve recently realized, however, that there really isn’t a lot “out there” that helps us understand design leadership.  This episode is the third in a series of conversations where our founder and principal, Matthew Doty sits down with both leaders of design as well as leaders who value good design. Our goal is to explore what it means to be responsible for teams that design great experiences and what it takes to organize and enable the practice of experience design from the leadership perspective Our guest for this episode is Alan Arlt. Alan, is an entrepreneur, executive and business strategist who specializes in starting and growing recreational sports businesses. His core philosophy is this: Treat every recreational sports participant like a professional. Alan believes when companies get this part of recreational sports experience right, results follow. He used this approach to launch Ultimate Hoops, a premier recreational basketball league and skills training business that was acquired by Life Time in 2008 and grew to become the largest network of recreational basketball leagues in America. Before launching Ultimate Hoops, Alan worked for several years as a marketing executive at Discovery Communications and Turner Broadcasting in New York City. Nowadays you’ll find him continuing to lead Ultimate Hoops at Life Time and spending time with his wife and two daughters. Occasionally, he’ll step on the basketball court to prove he still “has game” — all while connecting with other leaders in the recreational sports industry and helping others grow their recreational sports leagues. There is no shortage of opinions on what leadership is and what makes a good leader. We’ve recently realized, however, that there really isn’t a lot “out there” that helps us understand design leadership.  This episode is the first of several in a series of conversations where our founder and principal, Matthew Doty sits down with both leaders of design as well as leaders who value good design. Our goal is to explore what it means to be responsible for designing great experiences and what it takes to organize and enable the practice of experience design from the leadership perspective Our guest for this episode is Wenner Exius . As a hybrid brand creative director, Wenner combines both heart and science to drive business success and build brand storytelling. While his career began in HR, Wenner soon found himself transitioning into copywriting and creative leadership at agencies like Digitas and Razorfish and serving brands like AT&T, Kellogg's, and Shutterfly. After some time, his love for research and strategy nurtured a pivot into brand consulting where he helped architect the brand framework and creative marketing for organizations like the Canadian Cancer Society, Eventbrite, and Google Cloud. Using his HR, creative, and strategy expertise as an anchor, Wenner helps companies build a bridge between the business and creative; enabling them to connect with their customers in more meaningful ways.
