Learn to listen.  Try not to talk someone out of their feelings even if you don't agree with it.  Then you share your feelings, not to prove you are right, but to help them understand you better. No One is Coming to Save You

The Consequences of Their Choices

Morning Mantra: "Everyone is free to choose but no one is free from the consequences of their choices." As someone who feels deeply and tries to find the "good" in everyone, it's easy for me to overlook someone's actions and try to understand why they acted that way instead of calling them out.  This can create an imbalance in relationships. One where people take advantage. One thing that helps me to not fall into this trap is to remember that actions have consequences and that THEY are the only one responsible for their actions.  It's easy allow people to say "I'm sorry" and move on.  But you shouldn't.   You shouldn't let your empathy rob people of experiencing the consequences of their actions.   Every time your rescue people from the consequences, you interrupt accountability.
