Iranian oil tankers leave the Strait of Hormuz for the first time since March as leaked details of a 14-point memorandum of understanding suggest Tehran could begin selling oil immediately and eventually gain access to a $300 billion reconstruction fund. The International Energy Agency says the global oil market should gradually recover if the agreement holds and the Strait of Hormuz fully reopens. After one of the largest supply disruptions in history, the agency predicts a surplus of oil next year as Gulf production recovers and Iranian exports resume. Meanwhile, the IDF has carried out fresh airstrikes on Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon. Iran and Hezbollah claim this is a ceasefire violation but Israel says IDF troops will remain in Southern Lebanon for as long as is necessary. A new poll by Israel’s public broadcaster KAN suggests the Iran deal has given a boost to Former IDF chief Gadi Eisenkot’s Yashar party, while support for both Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud and Naftali Bennett’s Together party has fallen. Violent clashes have erupted between police and ultra-Orthodox protesters demonstrating against the arrest of draft dodgers. And Israel is attempting to reignite one of the engines that helped create the Start-Up Nation. The government has unveiled a new plan to help universities turn scientific discoveries into successful businesses after a sharp decline in academic start-ups and patents in recent years. President Trump is expected to release details of his proposed agreement with Iran before it is formally signed in Geneva on Friday. But what has emerged so far has been met with alarm in Israel, particularly reports that Tehran could gain access to a $300 billion reconstruction fund and receive sweeping sanctions relief. The agreement would also reopen the Strait of Hormuz and launch a new 60-day negotiating process on Iran’s nuclear programme, while leaving major questions over Iran’s missiles and proxy network unanswered. Meanwhile, senior Iranian officials have told the Financial Times that the war proved only military force, not diplomacy, can protect the regime. They claim the conflict strengthened the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and demonstrated that the United States and Israel failed to destroy Iran’s underground missile infrastructure. In Israel, Air Force chief Major General Omer Tischler has revealed that the Israeli Air Force was just one hour away from launching a massive strike on hundreds of targets deep inside Iran before the mission was abruptly called off. Reports suggest Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu halted the operation after President Trump urged Israel not to escalate the conflict further. And in Paris, a diplomatic row has erupted after France blocked Israeli companies from displaying offensive weapons at the Eurosatory defence exhibition and boarded up several Israeli stands. Meanwhile, Kuwait briefly closed its airspace and an 11-year-old girl was injured in Bahrain by falling debris from Iranian attacks. In Lebanon, Saudi Arabia has lifted a five-year ban on imports, signalling a possible thaw in relations with Beirut after years of tension over Iranian influence. Saudi reports claim Palestinian factions including Hamas have a counterproposal which they hope President Trump will pressure Israel to accept. It involves the gradual storage of weapons and military infrastructure leading to full IDF withdrawal. Today’s guest is Israel’s former National Security Advisor and FDD senior fellow Eyal Hulata, who expresses concern over how much the US and Israel share the same goals with regard to Iran and who says Israel’s political considerations are affecting national security decisions. Concerns are also growing that Iran has activated its proxies in Yemen. A UK-flagged cargo ship has reported coming under fire in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, while the Houthis have announced a complete ban on Israeli-linked maritime traffic in the Red Sea. Former hostage Rom Braslavski has met President Trump at the White House, thanking him for helping secure his freedom after 738 days in Hamas captivity. Braslavski has previously spoken about the torture and abuse he endured while being held in Gaza. And despite the regional turmoil, ties between Israel and the UAE appear stronger than ever. Israel continues to strike Hezbollah targets in Lebanon despite a ceasefire with Iran, and pressure from President Trump not to attack Beirut amid ongoing negotiations with Tehran. Yemen’s Houthis fire a drone at the Red Sea city of Eilat. The Iranian-backed group resumed strikes on Israel for the first time in months. Today’s guest is FDD CEO Mark Dubowitz, who argues that linking the Lebanon front to negotiations with Iran would hand Tehran a major victory. He also warns that diplomacy alone will not stop Iran’s nuclear ambitions nor will it keep the Strait of Hormuz permanently open. In Gaza, three senior Palestinian Islamic Jihad commanders have been killed in an Israeli airstrike. The IDF says they were involved in rebuilding the terror group’s military infrastructure and planning attacks against Israeli forces despite the ceasefire. Karim Khan, the Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, has been officially suspended over allegations of sexual misconduct. Khan denies the accusations, but member states will now decide on his fate. And a British Museum lecture on the ancient kingdoms of Israel and Judah will go ahead this week after being postponed over fears it would be disrupted by anti-Israel activists.
