Kanawha Valley Hustlers
In this episode of the Kanawha Valley Hustlers podcast, I talk with Josh White to talk about the drive behind his race team and the mission that keeps him moving. Racing started as a childhood dream after watching Days of Thunder, but it grew into something much bigger. Today he owns a NASCAR race team, competes across the region, and is building a trade school to help veterans learn skills that can lead to careers in the automotive industry. Josh shares how his time in the Marine Corps shaped his mindset. He believes success comes from adapting, overcoming obstacles, and staying focused on the mission. That same approach led him to create programs like Laps of Honor, where Gold Star families are invited to the track to honor loved ones by writing their names on the race car before it hits the track. We also talk about the business side of racing. Josh explains that talent alone is not enough. Sponsorships, funding, and creating value for partners are what keep a team alive. He spent years learning those lessons through trial and error because there was no roadmap to follow. He also points out that finding skilled people is one of the biggest challenges in racing since building and maintaining race cars requires knowledge that takes years to develop. During our rapid fire questions, Josh talks about finding deals on parts, avoiding Google advertising, and learning how to grow the retail side of his business. The idea he refuses to compromise on is integrity. He believes people will not trust your business if they cannot trust you. That principle guides every decision he makes and continues to shape the future of Josh White Racing.
