The Escape

Matias and his family knew they had to leave their town after their encounter with La Llorona. His mom was not willing to risk their family after what happened to Matias, she knew way too much about this spirit and knew if they didn't leave La Llorona would chase them and haunt them every day of their lives. But that was not enough, because even after leaving Colima, Matias feels as though she's still with him, and he knows there is no going back. Our guest this episode is Dr. Alicia Gaspar de Alba, Ph.D in American studies, professor in Chicano studies, English and Gender studies as well as chair for the LGBTQ program at UCLA. She has written multiple books and has done extensive research in regard to La Llorona. The Heartbreak

Natalie was driving when she discovered that her boyfriend was cheating. She had to stop and get off the car, she needed clarity. Unfortunately she was at the wrong place, at the wrong time, because her sadness and anger were the perfect connection for the spirit of La Llorona, the spirit who used Natalie's heartbreak as the perfect weapon to continue to haunt and terrorize more people.

The Sightings

For some traditions, the ghost of the weeping woman is feared. It is said to be vengeful and seizes the children of others to drown in place of their own. According to other traditions, it is a warning and those who hear her weeping will soon face death themselves. Sometimes she is seen as a disciplinary figure and looks for children who are not kind to their parents. Join us in this our second episode as we uncover more about this demonic spirit.

The Origin
