Watch out for gold bar scams

Gold bar scams are an increasingly widespread form of fraud, costing victims millions. In these schemes, scammers—often pretending to be government officials or tech support—claim that a person’s bank account is at risk. They then pressure the victim to liquidate their savings into physical gold bars, which are later picked up by fake couriers. No legitimate government agency will ever instruct someone to do this. Don’t respond to random text messages

If you receive a text message from an unknown number, we recommend that you don’t respond. There is no reason to be polite. Scammers are trying to steal your life savings through a scheme called pig butchering. Save yourself time and financial ruin by immediately deleting the text.
