Episode 3: The Respectable Sins We Keep Excusing Some sins look socially acceptable while quietly pulling our hearts away from God. In this episode, we talk about gossip, bitterness, pride, jealousy, hidden compromise, and the entertainment we normalize without considering how it shapes us spiritually. From “spicy books” to desensitization, we discuss how culture slowly numbs conviction and why holiness is about far more than outward appearances.

The Church We Were Meant to Be

Episode 5: The Church We Were Meant to Be Behind the Church Smile: When Christians Stop Acting Like Family Have you ever wondered why some of the most meaningful community people experience seems to happen outside the church instead of inside it? In this episode, we're having an honest conversation about what happens when the church drifts from the beautiful picture we see in the book of Acts. This is not a church-bashing episode. In fact, it's quite the opposite. We are talking about why the church is still God's plan for reaching the world, why Christ's bride is worth loving, and how ordinary believers can help the church look more like Jesus. We'll discuss the early church, biblical community, caring for widows and orphans, why we've often outsourced responsibilities God gave to His people, and how Christians can move from being consumers of church to participants in God's mission. We'll also talk about why some groups are known for their hospitality and community, and what believers can learn from that without compromising biblical truth. The answer to the church's struggles isn't cynicism, deconstruction, or walking away. The answer is faithful Christians willing to love people well, carry burdens, serve sacrificially, and reflect Christ in their communities. Because the church isn't a building. It isn't a staff. It isn't a program.

Mom Guilt or Holy Spirit Conviction?

Episode 4: Mom Guilt or Holy Spirit Conviction? Every Christian mom has felt it. The nagging feeling that you're not doing enough, praying enough, teaching enough, serving enough, or being enough. But what if some of what we're calling "mom guilt" isn't actually guilt at all? What if it's comparison, perfectionism, fear, or even condemnation? And what if some of it really is the loving conviction of the Holy Spirit calling us to grow? In this episode of Behind the Church Smile, we're talking about how to tell the difference between conviction and condemnation, why personal convictions should not become universal commands, and how Christian women can stop measuring themselves against everyone around them. We'll discuss homeschooling, working outside the home, Christian liberty, legalism, comparison, and the danger of swinging from one extreme to the other. God never called us to live crushed under burdens He didn't give us. But He also didn't call us to settle for complacency in our faith, marriages, or motherhood. Let's learn how to recognize His voice above all the others.
