Nate’s Bible Stories
The battle between the Lord and the gods of Egypt continues. In this episode of Nate’s Bible Stories, we follow Moses through two more devastating plagues: the plague of hail and the plague of locusts (Exodus 9–10). A storm unlike anything Egypt had ever seen crashes across the land. Hail falls from the sky while lightning flashes through the clouds, destroying crops, trees, animals, and anyone left in the fields. Then an east wind brings an enormous swarm of locusts that consumes everything the storm left behind. For the people of the ancient world, storms and thunderbolts were believed to belong to the storm gods. But the book of Exodus tells a different story. The Lord alone commands the thunder, the lightning, the wind, and the rain. The false gods of Egypt cannot stop the storm, protect the harvest, or rescue the nation from judgment. Along the way, we’ll also see an important contrast: some Egyptians believe God’s warning and seek shelter, while Pharaoh continues to harden his heart even after admitting he has sinned. Once again, God shows both His justice and His mercy as He calls people to trust Him before judgment falls. This episode helps children understand not only what happened during the plagues, but why these events mattered—and why the Bible repeatedly points to the Lord as the true ruler of heaven and earth.
