Beschrijving

Matthew 4:18-22 records Jesus calling fishermen; Acts 1:8 commissioned them as witnesses "to the ends of the earth." How apostles died: Matthew—sword wound in Ethiopia; Mark—dragged by horses in Alexandria; Luke—hanged in Greece; John—boiled in oil (survived!), exiled to Patmos, wrote Revelation, only apostle to die peacefully; Peter—crucified upside down (felt unworthy to die like Jesus); James (Jerusalem leader)—thrown from Temple, beaten to death; James (Zebedee's son)—beheaded, his Roman guard converted and died with him; Bartholomew—flayed alive; Andrew—crucified on X-cross, preached 2 days while dying; Thomas—speared in India; Jude—killed with arrows; Matthias—stoned and beheaded; NOT ONE recanted! Proves they saw Jesus resurrected. Will we live boldly for Him? Scripture: Matthew 4:18-22, 10:1-4, Acts 1:8, 6:5, 8, 7:55-60, 12:2, Philippians 1:21, 2 Timothy 4:7, Luke 9:23, Matthew 19:29, Revelation 2:10, 21:14 | Sources: Church history, martyrdom accounts | Read more: nations4jesus.blogspot.com

aflevering A Nation Born in a Day: The Miraculous Rebirth of Israel artwork

A Nation Born in a Day: The Miraculous Rebirth of Israel

Episode Description: Isaiah 66:8 (written ~700 BC) asked impossibly: "Can a country be born in a day?" On May 14, 1948, the IMPOSSIBLE happened—Israel was reborn in ONE DAY after 1,878 years of exile! Never in history has a people been scattered for 2,000 years, maintained identity, returned to ancient homeland, revived dead language, and reestablished their nation. EXCEPT ISRAEL. Historical reality: there has NEVER been an independent Palestinian state in 3,000+ years—only times there's been independent nation in that land = Jewish Israel. God's faithfulness on display. Pray for peace of Jerusalem, watch prophetic developments. Scripture: Isaiah 66:8, Ezekiel 36:24, 37:1-14, Amos 9:14-15, Isaiah 11:11, Luke 21:24, Romans 11:25-26, Zechariah 12:10, Psalm 122:6 Sources: Historical timeline, May 14, 1948 Israeli Declaration of Independence Read more: nations4jesus.blogspot.com

aflevering Coming to God on His Terms: The Lesson of Cain and Abel artwork

Coming to God on His Terms: The Lesson of Cain and Abel

Episode Description: True worship requires coming to God on HIS terms, not ours. At the heart of every false religion is the idea that man can come to God by any means—meditation, good deeds, sincerity. But Acts 4:12 says "There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved." Genesis 4 shows Cain bringing produce (work of his hands) while Abel brought blood sacrifice. God accepted Abel because he came God's way, acknowledging sin through required blood offering. Cain became "the father of all false religions." Same today: Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism teach salvation through human effort. Must come through Christ alone—don't compromise gospel exclusivity in missions! Scripture: Hebrews 11:4, Acts 4:12, Romans 10:9-10, Genesis 4:3-5, Jude 11, Hebrews 9:22, John 14:6, Ephesians 2:8-9 Source: "Drawing Near" by John MacArthur Read more: nations4jesus.blogspot.com
