Episode 15: Danny Bowman - An Inspirational Mental Health Journey

[TRIGGER WARNING] attempted suicide is discussed briefly in this episode. This week's guest is the amazing Danny Bowman. Danny first came to prominence when he went viral for being Britain’s first ‘selfie addict’ as he would spend up to 10 hours a day trying to take the perfect selfie. His behaviour caused him to drop out of school and become housebound. In Danny’s own words, “I lost my friends, my education, my health and almost my life.” From being diagnosed with OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) and BDD (Body Dysmorphic Disorder) to finding himself at his ‘lowest point’ to turning it all around to help others - Danny talks about his journey. Today he is: a PhD Researcher @LivUniPol Head of Campaigns (Former Director of Mental Health) at @ParlStreet Vice Chair (Trustee) at @MaleVoicED Fellow at The Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (@thersaorg) Danny and Maddie Clark discuss OCD, BDD, mental health support, community hubs, male mental health, stigma, early intervention, a recent visit to 10 Downing Street, the mental health consultation & more!
