Tonight on Triple Feature we are reviewing Deliverance, Dog Day Afternoon and The Deer Hunter. Three landmarks of the New Hollywood era, these films represent a time when Hollywood trusted audiences to sit with ambiguity, moral complexity, and characters who felt like real people. We discuss why Deliverance remains a brutal examination of civilization and survival, why Dog Day Afternoon may be one of the funniest and most deeply human crime dramas ever made, and why The Deer Hunter stands as one of cinema's greatest tragedies. Along the way, we explore the changing face of American filmmaking, the evolution of masculinity on screen, trauma, ritual, and why movies like these feel increasingly impossible to make today. Join us as we revisit three masterpieces from the golden age of American cinema and ask what we've gained—and lost—since. Damn You Hollywood: Evil Dead Burn (2026)

Evil Dead Burn is the sixth entry in the Evil Dead franchise and sequel to 2023’s Evil Dead Rise. Directed and co-written by Sébastien Vaniček and produced by Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert, the film stars Souheila Yacoub as a grieving widow who seeks refuge with her late husband’s family. At a secluded house their reunion becomes a nightmare as one relative after another is transformed into a Deadite. Tandi Wright, Hunter Doohan, Luciane Buchanan, Erroll Shand, and Maude Davey round out the cast. The project was announced in February 2024, with Vaniček co-writing the screenplay alongside Florent Bernard. After the title was revealed in December 2024, casting began in May 2025, followed by production in New Zealand from July through October. Evil Dead Burn opened in France on July 8, 2026, and in the United States on July 10. Released by Warner Bros. domestically and Screen Gems internationally, the film earned positive reviews and grossed $63 million worldwide against a $20 million budget. Damn You Hollywood: The Odyssey (2026)

Tonight on **Damn You Hollywood**, we're reviewing Christopher Nolan's *The Odyssey* (2026), a $250 million epic action-fantasy adapting Homer's timeless tale of war, survival, and the long road home. Matt Damon stars as Odysseus, the King of Ithaca, whose decade-long journey after the Trojan War pits him against monsters, gods, and his own pride as he struggles to reunite with Penelope (Anne Hathaway). The ensemble cast also features Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Samantha Morton, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron. Inspired by multiple translations of the poem as well as classics like *Ran* and *Andrei Rublev*, Nolan shot the film entirely on IMAX 70mm cameras across Europe and North Africa. Released on July 17, 2026, *The Odyssey* has become both a critical and commercial triumph, continuing Nolan's run as one of Hollywood's premier blockbuster filmmakers. Damn You Hollywood: Moana (2026)

Tonight on Damn You Hollywood we review the live-action remake of Moana. Released by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures on July 10, 2026, the film adapts Disney's acclaimed 2016 animated hit and marks the first live-action entry in the franchise. Directed by Thomas Kail in his feature film debut from a screenplay by Jared Bush and Dana Ledoux Miller, the film stars Catherine Laga'aia as Moana alongside Dwayne Johnson, who reprises his role as Maui while also serving as a producer. Returning as Tamatoa is Jemaine Clement, with Rena Owen, John Tui, and Frankie Adams rounding out the cast. Disney first began exploring the remake in 2019 before officially announcing it in 2023 as part of its continued live-action strategy during the company's centennial celebration. Produced on a reported $200–250 million budget and filmed in both Hawaii and Atlanta, the project also carries personal significance for Johnson, who has described Maui and the story's Polynesian heritage as a tribute to his culture and his late grandfather, High Chief Peter Maivia.
