For communities that participate, the event is open to people of all ages and skill levels through free, in-person events. Here in Chattanooga, the citywide music festival returns for its tenth year this Sunday. Janelle Drake is the organizer of Make Music Chattanooga.

The premiere screening for this year’s series is Wednesday at 6 PM at the Jewish Cultural Center at 5461 North Terrace Road. Screenings for the rest of the series continue at the Center on Sundays at 4 PM from June 21st through August 2nd. Virtual screenings of the films are also available. Ann Treadwell is with the Jewish Federation of Greater Chattanooga.

This year’s celebration features a summer concert for the holiday on Friday at 6:30 PM in Burr Park - and on Saturday, the Juneteenth Parade at 10 AM in downtown Dalton and the Juneteenth Gala at 6 PM at the Dalton Convention Center. Marisa Kelly is president of the Dalton-Whitfield County chapter of the NAACP.
