When we give things to people in ways that value them, to call them up, rather than to call them out, it can have the most beneficial effect.  Consider this: it's so easy to be critical and judgemental, but how often do we use our words to build people up? Honesty is the best policy, but honesty delivered with compassion is even sweeter.

Loving when Loving is Hard

In a time when we are all confronted with conflicts of many kinds, and a divisiveness runs through our world, how do we find the way back to love? Especially when it is hard to love? How do we let go of the grievances or injuries to which we hold? It was this tension in which I was asked to deliver a message at Unity Renaissance in Chesapeake, Virginia. Until a few moments before I spoke, I was not entirely certain what I would say.
