Gus Nyberg, executive director of NICHES, sits down with the stewardship staff to highlight how the spring 2019 burn season unfolded. Fire has played an integral part in shaping Indiana ecosystems and NICHES has worked actively to restore this once common event. This was the first burn season for Justin Harmeson (Land Steward) and Sam Cody (Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator), both bringing a unique perspective to how prescribed fires are implemented as a management tool.
