The Lent People- Episode 3 - The Woman Caught in the act of Adultry

The Lent People- Episode 3 - The Woman Caught in the act of Adultry During these weeks of Lent, Mgr Tony Rogers will be looking at six of the people who feature in the Sunday gospels in the three year cycle of readings. Some appear several times in scripture, while others are one-offs. Because they are individuals, he wants to probe behind the words we read, try to understand a bit more about them, in the hope that they, in turn will tell us a little bit more about ourselves. Part of the relevant gospel passage will be included in the broadcast, as well as a reflection on it, and some time for prayer. He will do his best to root the gospel reading in its setting, so that we can all appreciate the world in which Jesus worked. Jesus has called us by name, and although we don’t know the names of all of these six characters, they are treated as individuals, and Jesus deals with their requests in a way that truly responds to their needs. These meditations will enable us to bring our needs to the Lord.  Questions of comments for Mgr Tony?  Email: info@RadioMariaEngland.uk.  Broadcast:  Tuesdays at 12:30am and 8pm, Wednesday at 5:30am and 2pm, Thursday at 4pm and Saturday 9:30pm

The Lent People- Episode 1 - Nicodemus

The Lent People- Episode 1 - Nicodemus Nicodemus was a Pharisee [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pharisee] and a member of the Sanhedrin [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanhedrin] mentioned in three places in the Gospel of John [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gospel_of_John]:  He first visits Jesus one night to discuss Jesus' teachings (John 3:1–21 [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+3%3A1%E2%80%9321&version=NRSV]).  The second time Nicodemus is mentioned, he reminds his colleagues in the Sanhedrin that the law [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish_law] requires that a person be heard before being judged (John 7:50–51 [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+7%3A50%E2%80%9351&version=NRSV]).  Finally, Nicodemus appears after the Crucifixion [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crucifixion] of Jesus to provide the customary embalming spices, and assists Joseph of Arimathea [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_of_Arimathea] in preparing the body of Jesus for burial [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burial_of_Jesus] (John 19:39–42 [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+19%3A39%E2%80%9342&version=NRSV]). Join Mgr Tony Rogers as he reflects on Nicodemus.
