#21 - Valentino Di Lorenzo - How To Play Soccer Without Fear, Limiting Beliefs, How Parents Affect Their Childs Confidence on the field, the Power of a Growth Mindset

In this episode, we sit down with Valentino Di Lorenzo to break down one of the most overlooked parts of player development: the mental game. We talk about what it really means to play soccer without fear — fear of mistakes, fear of judgment, and fear of failing in front of teammates, coaches, and parents. Valentino dives into how limiting beliefs are formed early, how they silently cap a player’s potential, and what it takes to rewire confidence on and off the field. We also tackle the uncomfortable truth about parents’ influence on a child’s confidence — how well-intentioned behavior from the sidelines can either build resilient athletes or create anxious, hesitant players. Finally, we explore the power of a growth mindset and how players, parents, and coaches can shift from outcome-obsession to long-term development. If you care about raising confident players — or becoming one — this episode is mandatory listening.
