Introducing Proof of Africa | POA 01

Today, we are unveiling Proof of Africa, a stakepool-powered African adoption driver. We have been working hard during the past few months to be able to release our project today, and we are pretty proud of it. WHAT IS THIS? Well, it’s pretty simple, PoA is a stakepool-powered African adoption driver. You can compare it to Emurgo, but with the major difference that we are focused on Africa, and are powered by a stakepool. Oh, and we are also much less wealthy than our friends at Emurgo! WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE WITH OTHER, “REGULAR” POOLS? Currently, the Cardano stakepool ecosystem is mostly made of stakepools controled by passionate individuals who want to support this revolutionary platform. And please don’t misunderstand us, this is fantastic, and it’s incredible to see that there are already hundreds of stakepool on the testnet. Though, there is a need for stakepools doing additional things, like providing specific services for example, or developing dApps,… We want to be part of these “new” kind of stakepools. What we are currently doing, is providing a secure, uptime-driven, and reasonably-priced stakepool, while also organizing meet-ups in Nigeria, more precisely in Port Harcourt. Though, this is just the beginning. HOW WILL YOU DRIVE ADOPTION AND INNOVATION IN AFRICA? We are currently focused on education with meet-ups in Port Harcourt in Nigeria. Though, as 2020 goes, we would like to start organizing hackathons, giving grants to developers, and become an entity which pushes forward Africa-born initiatives. WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS? Well because we are nice people! More seriously, we have noticed in Africa a need for a change. People want innovation. But to obtain the innovation they are seeking, we need to start educating people in Africa, so that they are able to truly innovate, without any external help. And of course, we would like this innovation to take place on the Cardano platform. WHO ARE YOU? There are currently two individuals behind PoA. There is Joshua, who is based in Port Harcourt in Nigeria. He is the co-founder of Lambabros [http://lambatoken.com/], a blockchain-based Nigerian real estate company and is in charge of all the events in Africa, and all our activities in Africa. And there is Max, you may know him from Gerolamo [http://medium.com/gerolamo]. He is in charge of everything else, which means maintaining the stakepool alive, creating content, managing the funds,… WHAT HAPPENS NEXT? We will be organizing a the 25th of January in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Our stakepool is currently not up yet because we are waiting for the official Shelley release before launching our stakepool.
