Gentle realignment for natural back care and spine health. WHO IS LOULOU JAMES? Loulou James is a retired physiotherapist, yoga teacher, and spine health specialist. A chance discovery – using precise pelvic support with the Buttafly prop she originally designed as a simple yoga block and meditation seat – led to immediate spinal realignment and, within weeks, resolution of long‑standing symptoms. That insight evolved into the Buttafly Technique: a gentle, non‑invasive approach that works with the body’s innate intelligence to calm the nervous system and support natural healing. Loulou now teaches individuals and practitioners practical, safe protocols for natural back care and spine health. Why I do this Too many people are suffering needlessly. I believed in body wisdom, yet it wasn’t until the Buttafly Effect that I finally joined the dots: the spine has its own intelligence. After 30 years in physiotherapy, that realisation was shocking and transformative. I am committed to sharing with people how to engage that intelligence so they can experience natural back care and spine health gently and consistently, for themselves at home. This session introduces a gentle, practical way to engage your body’s wisdom for natural back care and spine health. Loulou shares the story behind the Buttafly Technique and how precise pelvic support can facilitate natural spinal realignment while calming the nervous system. We’ll unpack core principles—positioning and relaxation, and why this approach often avoids post‑treatment soreness. Attendees leave with clear, at‑home steps and guidance on when to seek practitioner support. *Loulou has been shortlisted for the Complimentary Medical Association’s “Innovation in Healthcare” award at this year’s Global Excellence Summit. LOULOU TALKS ABOUT: * The discovery: from a simple prop to immediate realignment * Working with the body’s innate intelligence: the craniosacral “still point” and nervous‑system calm (plain language) * Safety and consistency: protocols that avoid overwhelm and post‑treatment soreness * Common outcomes: relief from back pain/sciatica; improvements in posture, pelvic stability, neck alignment; adjunct to pelvic‑floor programmes like MUTU * How to get started at home: what you need, simple steps, and practitioner pathways CONTACT LOULOU: Website: https://thebuttafly.com [https://thebuttafly.com/] Learn the Buttafly Technique (programs and workshops): https://thebuttafly.com/the-buttafly-technique-for-a-healthy-spine [https://thebuttafly.com/the-buttafly-technique-for-a-healthy-spine] Book a 1:1 consultation (online): https://thebuttafly.com [https://thebuttafly.com/] Practitioner training and certification (protocols and safety): https://thebuttafly.com [https://thebuttafly.com/] Buy the Buttafly (Standard for the Technique): https://thebuttafly.com [https://thebuttafly.com/] Ebook — The Buttafly Technique: https://thebuttafly.com [https://thebuttafly.com/] Contact/Social: Instagram @the_buttafly [https://www.instagram.com/the_buttafly/] LinkedIn /in/louloujames [https://www.linkedin.com/in/louloujames/] YouTube @TheButtafly [https://www.youtube.com/@TheButtafly] Talks are hosted by Althea Finch at The PainFree Method, how to be pain free by tuning into you. Her early NHS career was focused on treating people with complications of diabetes as a hospital Diabetic Foot Specialist. This involved a lot of wound care, dermatology, education and fighting to save limbs. With a love of life long learning and curiosity Nena trained and incorporated Reflexology, Emotional freedom Technique EFT, Herbal Medicine, Nutrition, Foot Mobilisation, Red light and laser therapies into her Suffolk practice. Nena is about to embark on a very exciting new journey by opening an Energy Enhancement System Centre, the first in East Anglia. What is my passion and why do this? I always have and always will want to help people. It is who I am. To help someone get out of pain and walk out of my clinic with a spring in their step or a smile is for me a moment of joy – Every time! It feels good to make someone’s day and the trust people place in me is humbling. It is also fun and people are interesting. I have a 94 year old chap who after his treatment often exclaims “Oh good! Now I can run amok!” I try to have balance in my work and life but it all tends to merge! Growing organic food, flowers and plants with which to make lotions, potions and teas make me very happy. I need to put my hands in the soil or my bare feet on the ground every day. Grounding really is a thing – back to physics and discharging positive ions! I make stained glass windows, travel to learn about art history and I go paddle boarding as often as possible in the warm weather. I also have 3 dogs 3 chickens and 3 grown up children. My very kind husband and co director of our company who keeps everything running smoothly while I go on my Campervan adventures. NENA TALKS ABOUT How when one part of the body ‘goes wrong’ it affects other parts. We are all joined up. Treating the whole person, from the feet up or head down because the whole body walks. Always ask why? Diagnosis involves looking listening and hearing with the ears and the heart. The body talks and if we don’t listen we get sick. Sometimes a quick fix and symptoms can be suppressed and made to go away using all kinds of interventions but often for true healing to take place it takes time and the removal of the cause. Plants that grow around us are there for us to use. Natures pharmacy. Powerful free medicine! Garden weeds are awesome and full of goodness with amazing healing properties! Some good tips for feet. The EE System, healing for body mind and spirit. Violet Ray Devices with John (the violet ray guy)

VIOLET RAY DEVICES: A FORGOTTEN INVENTION OF NIKOLA TESLA WHO IS JOHN DRAKEFORD (THE VIOLET RAY GUY)? Violet Ray Devices: A Forgotten Invention of Nikola Tesla. I’ve long admired Nikola Tesla, but until a few years ago I had no idea about one of the most curious legacies of his work: the violet ray device. Tesla is among the most prolific inventors in history. He pioneered alternating current, which powers our modern world, and contributed to early X-ray imaging, wireless communication, radio, and even visionary attempts at wireless global energy transmission with his Wardenclyffe Tower. Among his many inventions, Tesla’s high-frequency “resonance transformers” — better known today as Tesla coils — laid the foundation for a class of electrotherapy devices that became famous in the early 20th century: the violet ray. How the Violet Ray Works – At the heart of a violet ray machine is a Tesla coil, which generates a high-frequency, high-voltage, but low-current electrical discharge. This current is delivered through glass electrodes filled with inert gases, usually argon or neon. When electrified, the gas produces a glowing plasma discharge. With argon, the light appears violet — hence the name. The treatment involved placing the electrode directly on the skin or holding it slightly above, allowing a gentle spark to jump to the body. Users described the sensation as a mild tingling or warmth, often accompanied by a faint ozone smell. Rise of Electrotherapy In the early 1900s, electricity was seen as a force of wonder, mystery, and untapped potential. Naturopaths, alternative healers, and even mainstream doctors were fascinated by its possibilities. An article from 1900 captured the spirit of the era when Schaefer declared: “Nothing in modern science causes us so much amazement as electricity, the sovereign ruler of all.” Manufacturers quickly capitalized on this fascination. Violet ray machines were marketed as miracle devices, capable of treating hundreds of ailments. Advertisements claimed benefits for conditions ranging from arthritis, rheumatism, poor circulation, and nervous disorders to hair loss, skin conditions, digestive issues, cataracts, and even psychiatric illnesses. Some spiritual healers, including Edgar Cayce, even suggested they could aid in cases of “possession” or mental imbalance. Home-use kits were sold alongside professional medical models. The main difference was the number and variety of glass attachments, each shaped for a particular part of the body. The literature often listed more than 200 ailments the device supposedly treated, making it one of the most widely marketed health products of its time. Decline and Controversy Despite their popularity, violet ray devices faced increasing resistance from the mainstream medical establishment, which was becoming more tightly aligned with pharmaceutical-based treatments. By the 1930s and 40s, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration began cracking down on manufacturers for unverified medical claims. Court cases, fines, and stricter regulations led to their decline. By the late 20th century, only a handful of manufacturers remained, including Holo Electron in France and Tefra in Germany. Today, only Tefra continues to produce a version of the device, though modern units use solid-state circuitry and are generally marketed for cosmetic or relaxation purposes rather than medical claims. Many enthusiasts feel these modern versions lack the power and effectiveness of their vintage predecessors. A Personal Experience For me, the violet ray story isn’t just historical curiosity — it’s personal. Years ago, I underwent four surgeries on my right shoulder for repeated glenoid labrum tears. When I later injured my left shoulder, I dreaded the prospect of going under the knife again. Around that time, I discovered violet ray devices and bought a small vintage unit. After two weeks of daily treatments, my shoulder improved dramatically. The surgery I thought was inevitable was no longer necessary. That experience lit a spark in me — I’ve been collecting, restoring, and researching these devices ever since. Over time, I’ve heard countless testimonials of people finding relief from arthritis, cystitis, and other stubborn ailments using these old machines. While modern medicine doesn’t endorse such claims, it’s hard to ignore the passion and stories of those who’ve experienced benefits first hand. Legacy of the Violet Ray The violet ray is a fascinating intersection of science, invention, and culture. It represents an era when electricity was still seen as a mystical force, a time when inventors and healers believed it could transform health and human potential. Today, these devices live on as collector’s items, curiosities, and tools for enthusiasts like myself who continue to explore their possibilities. Whether one views them as genuine therapy, quirky pseudoscience, or simply a piece of Tesla’s incredible legacy, the violet ray stands as a testament to human curiosity and our search for healing in unconventional ways. JOHN TALKS ABOUT: How Nikola Tesla’s Tesla coil technology led to the creation of the violet ray device. Why violet ray machines became hugely popular in the early 1900s as electric cure-all devices. Why the violet ray faded from mainstream medicine but still has a loyal following today.
