Beschrijving

Hear about the some of the early days of the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, everything from welcoming President Obama to making Governor Gary Johnson sit on the floor.  In the second episode celebrating our 50th anniversary, two of the original founders of IPCC reflect on its growth over the years. Ron Solimon and Ron Shutiva both worked to make IPCC the place it is today. As an IPCC CEO and board member, respectively, they were instrumental in redesigning the IPCC building, creating separate profit and non-profit sectors for the company, and laying the groundwork to begin developing Avanyu Plaza as a business and cultural corridor. Hear about their journey in working at IPCC and seeing how it has developed with the help of their vision. #Pueblo #Native #Indigenous  #PuebloInFocus #IndianPuebloCulturalCenter #IPCC #Podcast #Albuquerque #NewMexico #NativeAmerican #NativeCulture #Laguna #Zuni #Acoma #Jemez #50thAnniversary

Series 1, Ep. 3: Giving Back: Connecting to Culture

Director of Guest Experience Monique Silva (Isleta) and volunteers George Arthur, George Garcia (Ohkay Owingeh), and Jena Lynch speak about the history of the volunteer program and what makes volunteering at IPCC so special. These volunteers discuss meeting visitors from around the world, forming friendships with their fellow volunteers, and learning about Pueblo Culture, all while working at IPCC. Hear about the sense of community and all of the experiences that keep them coming back to volunteer at the Cultural Center, along with the ways that the volunteer program makes so much of our work at IPCC possible.  This third episode celebrating our 50th anniversary, recognizes our amazing volunteers. Volunteers are a crucial part of IPCC, working to keep both special events and day-to-day life at the Center running smoothly. From museum tours to special events staffing, their work supports the preservation of Pueblo culture and the uplifting of Pueblo voices.  #Pueblo #Native #Indigenous  #PuebloInFocus #IndianPuebloCulturalCenter #IPCC #Podcast #Albuquerque #NewMexico #NativeAmerican #NativeCulture #Volunteer#OhkayOwingeh #Isleta #Acoma #Jemez #50thAnniversary
