Many people drive through or live in Williamson County and/or Georgetown, Texas without ever thinking twice about how those places got their names - I know I have. In today's epsiode, we explore the lives of Robert McAlpin Williamson, the namesake of Williamson County, and George Washington Glasscock - namesake and land donor of Georgetown, Texas. Special thanks today to Danelle Houck at the Williamson County Museum and to the Williamson County Museum for providing information and pictures, also special thanks to Megan Firestone and Haley Bryce at Southwestern University Special Collections and Archives, Sam W. Haynes at the Center for Southwest Studies at UT Arlington, Brian “Fox” Ellis, Christan McWhiter at the Abraham Lincoln Library, the Texas State Bar Archives, and Rob Hipp at the Hipp Radio Network.
